I don't think so--if schools need that kind of protection then they need trained, armed security people in the school who know how to handle a weapon and a confrontational situation--to arm teachers--this is not a good answer. They have enough to handle without target practice too.
Wait a minute, I heard from Rosie O'Donnell that guns were the problem.
So a teacher or administrator who has had the background check and/or training to legally be issued a CCW license should not be allowed to carry on school property?
I agree. I'm for guns on school property, but only in the hands of professionals. School teachers, many of them though certainly not all, do enough damage to our children. And many do not like teaching and are frustrated people. Do we really want them, even IF they have training, to be armed? I don't think so. They would go after conservatives first, eventually. But I do like the idea of having an armed security guard or at least a/several designated armed individuals.
Agree with you.
I mean nuns and Amish school teachers aren't going to carry concealed weapons. And what about older boys disarming the teacher etc.?
Metal detectors and armed security force, premises locked down, ID badges should all be tried first.
Okay, how is it right to deprive teachers of the means to defend themselves against some armed psychotic who doesn't care about gun prohibitions?
The Army trained me.
Wow! What's in the water up there? First I read that the Wisconsin legislature is considering reinstating the death penalty and now I'm reading it's considering allowing teachers to carry hand guns in schools! Well, whatever "is" in the water, hope it spreads to other states too!!!!
