Match Of The Week Preview: (By MikeFromOhio) Week Five was a fun week if you were a Buckeye fan. The weekend started out with Auburn getting a severe test at South Carolina in the super tough SEC. Ohio State went to Iowa and dismantled the Hawkeyes. USC was pushed by Washington State and Florida received a good push by Alabama. This week features the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma and another great matchup in the SEC when LSU visits Florida in the Swamp. Saturday, October 7th, 2006 3:30 PM on CBS
at
(9) LSU (-2) at (5) Florida
LSU and Florida will meet in the first of what should be a month of absolutely great games in the SEC. This will be the first of 3 top 10 opponents that Florida will see in a 3 week span. For LSU this is all about building momentum and staying in the SEC West race. One loss does not eliminate them from contention for the BCS Championship game. This game is at the Swamp and it will be a very LOUD game. LSU has been there and done that and that will be the difference. Florida cannot start slowly like they did against Alabama to have any shot in this one but they are also possibly having to play this game without DeShawn Winn, their starting Tailback. All of this equals an LSU win I think.
LSU 20 Florida 14
Saturday, October 7th, 2006 3:30 PM on ABC
(7) Texas (-5.5) at (14) Oklahoma
In this game there is a young Quarterback for Texas, and a defense for Oklahoma looking to show that during the bye week, they were able to plug some of the holes. Being that Texas and Oklahoma both already have one loss, a loss here not only knocks one out of the National Title hunt, but also puts the loser a game back of the winner in the Big XII South. Texas has the edge in this game. They are the more experienced team, and they have the better defense. Rivalry games like this are fun to pick, because you can be so often wrong on a game by game basis. Anyway, I think Texas wins this game by a TD.
Texas 27 Oklahoma 20 **More Random Observations** (By CSC Folks)
*Notre Dame has the toughest schedule according to Sagrin. Fresno State has the second toughest schedule. This does not guarantee that Notre Dame will be in the BSC Title game. *Do you believe Northern Illinois' Garrett Wolfe should be an actual contender for the Heisman? For many Div 1-A fans, the answer is *no*. We want to know why not? He is on track to break Barry Sanders record while he was playing for Oklahoma State.

Our question to you: Who escapes to the ALCS & NLCS? |
~ NASCAR ~ The Cup Chase continues! Hello Talladega Superspeedway! Click here to get all your pre-race information! Or do what we do--->Check in with the NASCAR crew here at FR! |
~ Sports Musings ~ This year's college football season has been exceptional, especially in one particular area: The Refs! To say the officiating has been horrible would be an understatement! As mentioned elsewhere online, what happens if Oklahoma beats Texas and wins the Big 12 conference? Should Oklahoma be denied the chance to go for the title because a guy in the skybox couldn't watch his TV screen to make an obvious call? Instant replay can work, but you need competent people to work it! After the United States disasterous World Cup (soccer/el futbol) run this past summer, we find ourselves looking for a new coach. Already there are American fans complaining that a foreigner will be hired. Colonel and MoJo are all for this! If you want to win on the international stage, get someone that actually has the know-how and the concept of how to field a team. Otherwise, hire an American and look forward to another 4 years of disappointments. You knew it would have to happen--eventually! The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders have their own show on CMT! If you want to make the squad, you can now tryout in front of America. How clever and original! Not! Enjoy it anyways! |
~ Sports Fans around FR ~ Are you a fan of sports? We've got your pinglist hookup!
College Football - FReepmail MikeFromOhio to be added to the list. NFL - scott says handles this list! FReepmail him to be added! NASCAR - glock rocks, NormsRevenge, and others will gladly add you to their pinglist!! Soccer - soccer_maniac handles the soccer pinglist! FReepmail to be added! If you know of any other sports pinglist and the person that handles it, please let us know!! |

Thanks Mayor!! I have been asking myself this very question. How could Jesus bare what is happening in this world today??? The old question...what would Jesus do?? Cry.
Sometimes things can be so so discouraging.
God Bless all those who are out there helping others. I mean truly helping those in need. Sometimes my prayers are about all I have to give.
Thanks for your prayers, everyone!!
God Bless our Troops!!
God Bless George W. Bush!!
God Bless America!!

Prayer is the ONLY thing that is real in this world...and we have a God who listens and responds.
