I do find it amusing that the author anticipates first winning on the strength of an attempted buggery scandal and only then explaining what the Democrats' policies actually are. If any. It doesn't strike me as particularly politically astute, and its implication, that the former is truly somehow more important than the latter, is frightening.

If the Democrats can’t take the Hill now, they deserve to go the way of the Whigs.

Is this Howard Fineman's way of saying, on behalf of the MSM, "We've done everything we could do. Now, you're going to have to get votes"?

I don't think I've ever seen a pre-packaged scandal with its own marketing campaign before.

These idiots think this is going to change the election, it isn't. The RATS have no message other than 'were not Bush' and there is a war going on. RATS will be in for a big disappointment come day after the election.

Correct me if I'm wrong on my timeline (I can't be off more than a day or so) but I think Foley resigned over the weekend.

TODAY, I get the usual smarmy recorded phone message from "Family Values Inc" or some such organization, telling me that Speaker Hastert and other Repulican leaders have protected a child molester.

And they insist this wasn't coordinated?

No Family Values hack, whoever sat on the IMs for months or years was protecting a child molester.

the real world is focused on children: in this case, the 16-year-old congressional pages.

Is it just me or has this scadal just gone lame?

I think this was the big October surprise and it looks to me as if it is trying to walk on three legs.

Imagine you are 16 years old again, and a male. A 50 something year old man asks you for sex.

You:

A - Say, "You are an authority figure, I cannot refuse"

B - Save the messages for years to hand over to the press

C - Beat the living cr@p out of the 50 year old man.

Am I the only guy in America who believes in Answer C?

Let's get something clear - by 16, most guys are not capable of being preyed on by pedophiles. Most 16 year olds are essentially sexually adults by 16. They might not be able to handle the emotions, but at 16...they aren't 'children'.

All the 16 year olds I knew were entirely capable of telling an old man who asked for sex not just NO, but HELL NO!! - and 'I'll beat the daylights out of you if you come close to me again!'

Foley is disgusting, but so are the homosexual pages that allowed it to go on.

Real Americans outside the Beltway don’t look at politics the way we do here. I call Washington the Cave of the Sightless Fish: we hear everything, see nothing

Gee Harold .. are you saying you are part of that crowd??

Because of this dirtbag foley we are supposed to let the rats take control by staying home on election day? When the first frost hits hell.

I'd settle for them being the modern day GOP. We were out of power for 40 years from 1954 until 1994.
