Same blogger who has been threatening for months to out congressmen (only Republicans as far as I can tell) because he didn't like the way they voted on g/l legislation. There's something pretty sick about that, imo.

The Democrats, in my opinion, are just hoping the clock winds down before anything incriminating turns up. Especially the Clintons who have the most to gain by bringing down the GOP.

Where is Mr. Rove? When the heck is he going to release some sort of counter punch to send the Rats running?

It isn't outrage, it's simple disgust. And it isn't directed at you. It's directed at the hypocrites who are ignoring the facts, and focusing on the party affiliation. And today, I just don't have any sympathy for pedophiles.

I know I read a headline on a FR article a few weeks ago...that said something about how Rove had promised an "October surprise"...

Well, IF Mr. Rove does have a surprise...I would suggest he whip that surprise out SOON!!!

I wonder if this story will drag on as long as Abu Ghraib.

I really would like a link to this supposed federal law. The post in 678 only refers to definitions. Definitions define things in other law.

I agree, and the press is trying to stir this into a great defeat for pubbies in November; I for one am even more energized to vote and will carry that energy to every person I know to go vote R in November. Keeping the dem creeps out of office is very important; their high and mighty attitude right now is so filled with hypocracy it is laughable. The media, in usual fashion, is omitting every dem scandal ongoing (jefferson, others)...but the pendulum will swing back, just wait. CREW and ABC need to tell the FBI where they got those IMs from.....and eventually it will be brought right back to a democrat source, imho. I'm waiting patiently for that to occur. In the meantime, the Washington Times should be ashamed of themselves for calling on Hastert to resign over this, at least this early in the game. If it turns out Denny is lieing (which I doubt), then it will be time for him to leave. Let the investigation go forth, let the truth come out, and the pubbies will be on the winning side of this.

Personally I don't think it will drag on much past the weekend, but I'm in the minority on that one.

Exactly! Blame the Catholic Church that you are a sexual deviant. The truth is, if Foley had not SUPPOSEDLY been molested by clergy, he still would be a SEXUAL DEVIANT - GAY. Why do they do that? Now I feel nothing for him and I hope the GOP didn't tell him to do this. Blaming the Catholic Church for this, and you can go after the church on other things, will do him or other deviants any good because this is used, it's OLD.

The story will go away as soon as the source of the IMs is revealed because it will be a dem associated organization. Once that is public, the media/dems will drop the story like a hot potatoe.

I use the word "homosexualist." Like "feminist," it denotes an individual who, regardless of his personal sexual preference, is committed to a political agenda that advances homosexuality as a political cause.

Not all homosexuals are homosexualists.

Yep. I read the same thing.

The Rats are simply having too much fun. I love watching them run with their tails between their legs. I wonder what's up his sleeve.

Thanks.

Do words equal rape? Is cyber "sex" actual sex"?

The Dems who love these alleged PRIVATE IM logs seem to hate the Patriot Act. Buuuttttttt, the Dems are ecstatic with joy over "tapping into" these private alleged IMS.

Yes, you're right.

And those of us who can see know that this isn't about Foley or even about the “children” the liberals suddenly start caring about. If they really cared about them they would've raised the alarm back in 2003 when they supposedly knew about the instant messages. And if they are going to accuse Hastert of conspiracy and lack of leadership, where was the Speaker of the House - Democrat Tip O'Neil - in1983 when Gerry Studds, a Democrat Congressman from Massachusetts, had sexual relations with a page? Why didn't Speaker O'Neil demonstrate leadership and asked Studds to resign?

In fact, doing my research, I found that the Democrats didn't do that, they just censured him, and Studds kept getting reelected with the blessings and support of the whole Democrat Party.

Why didn't the Democrat Party get rid of the page program at that time if they cared so much about the children, and why didn't the media create the same stink they are enjoying now? Studds wasn't just “accused” of inappropriate emails or IM's with pages, HE WAS FOUND HAVING SEX with a page.

But I digress, this isn't about any of the above, this is about taking control of the House and the Senate. This is about appointing more leftist judges to the Supreme Court. This is about ending the war in Iraq and appeasing terrorists. This is about impeaching GW. This is about -as Clinton and the Democrats have been doing lately- rewriting history and pointing fingers to Bush as the one who is to blame for 9-11.

Very true. Still, I have to point out that the moral of this story is still (and has consistently been) a GOP who just doesn't seem to be able to get its act together and articulate a clear, cogent message.

They were caught utterly flat footed on this - a profound error in judgment and strategy. Just once I'd like to see the 21st Century GOP get ahead of an issue and control the narrative.

Dubya and Congress lost control of the narrative a while ago and seem either uninterested of just unable to regain that control.

I was referencing 678 as a response to another post that used that as a law in which Foley could be prosecuted but the only law that deals with child exploitation from that specific US code is with visual depictions. My point was Foley could not be prosecuted even if there was something within this law if his conduct was prior to this law being revised which was 7/7/2006 by the House if that revision dealt with what they want to charge him with. I'm not sure of the exact laws that have been struck down but yesterday I saw a website bragging that at least a dozen laws since 1998 of prohibiting child exploitation had been struck down by the courts. The US Supreme Court actually ruled that prohibiting explicit language on the web is in violation of free speech even if it reaches a child.

I have to agree with you. And it seems that only the Republicans keep getting stung by October surprises every time there is an election.

The Republicans are always playing defense... how about going on offense for once?

I can't think of a half dozen issues the GOP got in front on and controlled the narrative in the last year.
