New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

It isn't on the page. It's a feature of MySpace Search. If you know someone's email, you can search for their profile.

I wasn't gonna be 'friends' with one of Foley's boyfriends!

You're awesome.

OK. On what basis was he to investigate? Who was to do the investigation? Was he to only investigate Foley, or all known gays, both male and female, in the House?

It isn't against the law to be gay. I can't help it, that's the rule. You cannot investigate everyone about whom you have suspicions. And how are you going to explain "sex police" in the House budget?

You are reacting out of emotion (hint, not a good thing) and not with any type of reason.

I don't know if you've been reading the news lately, but if you happen to check the "internets" for information you may find that there was an incident with Congressman Mark Foley sending creepy emails to a 16-year-old former House page.

Nor was I "blaming" the "boy". He was a page. They usually don't hire dummies for that job. Even though this is a relatively young age, the "boy" DID know what was being suggested to him by Foley (a well-known homosexual), and the page DID continue IM'ing him and engaged in blatantly sexual talk, discussing having dinner with him and then, "who knows what next?". The "boy" could have cut off the communications at any time, but chose not to do so for any number of reasons.

Why assume he was just some kid who didn't know ANY better than to have these "conversations" with this much older man? And, maybe he ISN'T sexually confused at all. Maybe this was all a game to him, maybe not. Maybe, maybe, maybe. We have yet to see. As far as the "boy's" part is concerned, at this point in time, it's pretty much all conjecture as to what his part was in this. We may never know. Now that Foley is out, it's all about destroying the Republican Party anyway. This is all smoke & mirrors now and how much traction the Democrats can gain with it. Sad, but true.

Peace.

You know, you are simply misfiring on all cylinders. Foley's e-mails were already looked at by the FBI, who found nothing in them to warrant investigation. It was the IM's, which only surfaced on Friday, which were salacious.

I see no reason to fault Hastert for not having ESP.

Ah, but the IM recipient (as opposed to the email recipient) is responsible for what he does now. He's overage.

Do we know for sure who initiated every one of these IMs?

I don't know that we do. It could be that Foley resigned based on a guilty conscience without really knowing what was in the IM's. As has been pointed out, one could fake an IM exchange and there would be no way to prove it.

Foley needed to go, but I want to know who was involved in this. If the IM's happend 3 years ago, the former page must be over 18, and therefore can be questioned. I want this done ASAP, and I want to know what the page's political affiliation is, and who his parents are. I am not letting the so-called victim off the hook, since some of those IM's indicated his willing participation.

Does anyone know if you have internet access while at Rehab? I would like to know if someone else has access to Foley's computer...

Yeah, it was. Johnny is not an out-of-touch old fart. Just accept that you stepped in it.
