New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM
Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

Then why did Foley resign?
Just for a moment, lets forget this Foley incident. Where have we seen this aggressive and despicable dirty tricks before? For the life of me it has the feel of Cris Lahane and Peladano(?),...hirlings of Mrs. Clinton. Now I have no information regarding Clinton. I don't want to besmirch Mrs. Clinton by making this connection. But I remember Kathleen Wiley, Paula Jones. It just has the feel of their type of aggressive assault. We get caught with our britches down, and by the time it comes out in the wash, the election is over. The timing is not inconsequential in the outing of Foley. After the primaries, at a time state law will not allow anyone on the Republican side to be placed on the ballot? This is not happenstance....it is deliberate in its going public.
So which one is it, Howlin?
If you want a law against homosexuals, good luck with getting that passed.
Even if you log, it goes into a text file, right? Those can be altered.
They have the right to voice their opinions without being damned to hell by the prigs around here.
Bruce: [walking towards Dave] All right. I'm gonna cut right to the legal chase. Did you kill Henry Tilsen?
Dave: No. [laughing] This is so easy. [drinks from mug]
He was impeached for 'sex lies' stemming from a BJ.
Welcome to FR.
Hannity is doing a great job on the radio right now--alot better than Tony Snow did the other day.
Unbelievable--blaming a whole political party because of one man who can't keep his computer sex to himself?
This is not happenstance....it is deliberate in its going public.
I agree 100 percent.
And don't tell me David Brock isn't involved in this: that nasty Melanie Sloan who has been pushing this story use to work for HIM and for John Conyers!
Thanks--I am a brand new member. Great website!
Regardless of whether some were fabricated, I'm 100% certain that Foley likes boys and made advances toward pages when he had the opportunity.
For the millionth time ...
He's got a 50-year-old gay congressman sending creepy emails to a 16-year-old former House page.
Interview other current and former House pages. It turns out there was a LOT of dirt out there. It is very likely if they had asked around they would have uncovered at least one more incident, and then you've got a pattern of behavior, and things would escalate from there.
If they'd investigated and not found anything, at least they could say they tried.
They may not be fabricated, and I agree with you re: Foley. I hope they prosecute him (if he broke laws, which I don't know, not my area) with the laws he hypocritically helped pass.
yes. there is no way to authenticate anything saved on the client PC, absent sophisticated methods like digital signing. unless the provider has logs.
and even then - I don't know how you overcome the simple issue of someone obtaining his password, or access to his PC.
but still - Foley isn't denying any of this IM content. not so far at least.
Didn't the FBI (prompted by House officials) get a look at the initial emails (overly friendly types) and determine there was nothing to investigate?
Hasert could have done nothing before the IM's were released. The original emails were vague and not even newsworthy according to media outlets who had the email and did not even write a story about them.
Hassert needs a simplier message. Where is Roger Ailes when we need him?

Prior to starting sCREW, she (Sloan) served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia, where, from 1998-2003, she successfully tried cases before dozens of judges and juries. Before becoming a prosecutor, Ms. Sloan served as Minority Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, working for Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI) and specializing in crime issues.
In 1994, Ms. Sloan served as Counsel for the Crime Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by then-Representative Charles Schumer (D-NY).
And
Melanie Sloan : [CREW's Executive Director] CREW has been active only since February [2003]. Republicans detect a strong Democratic orientation. Sloan, most recently an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, is a former aide to Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.; then-Rep. (now Sen.) Charles Schumer, D- N.Y.; and Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich.
And Melanie Sloan is an attorney for Joe and Valerie Wilson.
