New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

The exchange continues in which Foley and the teen both appear to describe having sexual orgasms.

The House voted that evening on HR 1559, Emergency War Time supplemental appropriations.
According to another message, Foley also invites the teen and a friend to come to his house near Capitol Hill so they can drink alcohol.

You did get the R right! I think Reynolds was probably one of their 'ripple effect' targets. I hope you're right about his getting MORE votes as a result of this.
I read the headline and those three words came to my mind immediately. With 52 emails/IM's this can go on easily until the election, which is what this is all about anyway.
I suspect this FRIDAY afternoon, Ross will provide the BIGGEST YET...SHOCKER IM, just in time to keep the weekend talk shows on this NON story.

IMs are easily forged, it doesn't take a computer genius to manufacture them. That said, Foley's resignation lends credibility to the charges.
I do not defend Foley, he deserves everything he gets and more. But the orchestrated politics behind this sordid affair is just as egregious. Gateway Pundit is doing a great job digging into this angle.

The hypocrisy of democrats asking when republicans knew should be turned on them. If the left wing St. Petersburg Times had the e-mails, you know democrats knew of the e-mails as well, and said nothing. Obviously neither party was alarmed by the e-mails, so both can share in the blame for inaction. So the issue really boils down to these 'IMs', who knew about them and when ? It appears left wing bloggers did, and, thus, some democrats surely knew and kept them hidden from republicans so they could spring their 'October Surprise'.
All this does not excuse Foley's actions or betrayal, but the gutter politics surrounding this are just as disgusting and hypocritical. Especially in light of Gerry Studds (D) (sex with a 17 year old male page - re-elected 6 times after), Dan Crane (R) (sex with a 17 year old female page - defeated in re-election bid) and Mel Reynolds (D) (sex with a 16 year old female campaign aide and corruption charges, convicted and pardoned by Clinton) debacles in the past. I didn't include Monica/Willy, she was 22 at the time.

these logs are not coming from AOL - they would only release those (if they have them) under court order. So they must be coming from logs on the kid's PC.

He was not, and never claimed to be, a "family values" candidate.
The Republicans have a "big tent" policy that permits people of diverse opinions on these matters to enjoy the support of the party in contests against the Donkeys.
You need look no further than Connecticut to see that the Donkeys have no such "big tent" policy, but are rather dominated by doctrinaire ideologues who purify the party by eating their own. True Stalinists are they.

on Rush. She asked if the IM's suggest that the teen was not necessarily sexually innocent. Rush responded by saying you can't say that because the liberals would attack it insisting he was just a kid and Foley was a 52 year old sophisticated gay man with the power of a Congressman. I think Rush is totally out to lunch on this entire matter. He just keeps saying one dumb thing after another on the entire Foley matter.
What he should have said is conservatives will not accept the idea that the kid is responsible. It is Foley who is a sophisticated gay man, a predatory troll. For most conservatives this is not a political issue, it is a moral and ethical issue.
