New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote October 03, 2006 1:22 PM
Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

Wow I am stunned by the level of permissiveness on this board particularly from you. You sound like a Liberal.
My guess is you are for Gay Marriage and against parental consent for people under 18 for abortions.
The way you point out semantic arguments on something that is so cut and dry f-ed up, you also agreed with Clinton when he asked "it depends on what the definition of is is" during Lewinskygate.
You also wouldn't mind one bit if a 50 year old man offered to diddle your 15 year old-son via email or otherwise.
I myself would call him a pedophile and offer to shoot him.
Can you show me ANY definitive proof that the person he was IMing was a "kid"? The kid who was emailing back and forth is different than the person in the IM. The person he was IMing might be a former page who was over 18, which legally makes him an adult with all the rights and responsibilities you and I have.
Fortunately, we are a nation that was founded on Christian principles. Jesus died for Foley, so he does not have to do what you suggest. He does need to accept Jesus' death for what he did, though. Jesus' death covers all sins. Even the heinous ones like murder, homosexuality--and pride.
Has there even been a crime? What crime are they investigating?
"The very dangerous thing, is that this type of behavior makes us vulnerable not only to RATS, but all kinds of foreign powers."
You're absolutely right. I oversimplified by considering the issue from an 'in house' perspective. The vulnerability of individuals/groups to a foreign element by their behavior is a given, but the rats in power put us in the same jeopardy.
gopwinsin04 . . what made you think this was the FULL transcript. Your link provided the same material that was originally posted . . . where's the dirt?
You wish don't you! This is not going to affect other House races and if all goes well even the Foley seat will remain Republican. You can start crying right now because you all are overplaying this one like you have everything else.
When you going to get around to investigating Barney Frank and his partner -- oh we already did that the media ignored it saying Frank wasn't involved. Believe that I have swamp land for sale in Arizona.
YOU KNOW WHAT?? I put MAF54 ---Foleys nick on my Buddy List...with an alarm to let me know when he came on. He came on for like 20 seconds about an hour ago. If he's in rehab...does he have access to the internet?? Or does someone else have access to his account????
His chat avatar was dressed so provocatively .....
And Granite, there's now WAY Hastert could have investigated creepy emails from a gay 50-year-old man to a 16-year-old boy, why, he might have offended the homosexual lobby! We might have lost the gay vote in the upcoming election!!!
please note the above is all sarcasm
That's what I am wondering? If they didn't work for Congress anymore and if they were of legal age and if there was no actual contact, what is the crime?
You just led of with "The Republicans" which is right out of the RAT talking points -- A for effort but you failed!
That is a possibility. When Rodney switched parties his staff were not pleased and thought it a betrayal.
That being said I think there might be a more innocent explaination. When the kid got the email he might have forwarded it to some friends and say"look at this" I suspect he didnt have any malcious intent but you know 16 and sort of naive.
Yes!
Thank you!
You're right you caught me. I think what Foley did is disgusting, worse than what Clinton did, and morely repugnant.
I got two kids and I would flip if a 50 year old went after my 16 year old daughters. I would be stunned and incredibly ticked if a 50 year old man went after my sons!
It's not "bias" that is showing - I'll shout it out loud and clear.
If I recall correctly, I think Bill Clinton was late for a meeting with Yasser Arafat because he was getting serviced by Monica.
Wow,"Internet Sex"? I didn't know a computer could do that?
You are kidding. No I think it is pretty safe to bet Rehab patients dont have access to the net
Scientology connection?
