I've seen many barnraisings in Millersburg, Sugar Creek, and all over Holmes County here in Ohio.
They are quite willing to pitch in for each other (it's their duty to sacrifice for others), but outside help from the English (what they call all other-than-Amish people) is not something they accept readily.
Thanks for the ping!
Am not sure of that either. Will have to ask friends about that.
I called Coatesville Bank to verify the information, and spoke with Susan, the branch manager. She explained that the bank is in the heart of town, and alot of the people effected by this tragedy are her customers. The Coatesville Savings Bank has been working with the Amish community for many years, and she did confirm that charity is indeed accepted.
Thanks for posting a thread on this. And thanks, Gabz, for the ping.
Can I also be ping when the electronic site is up.
No. They do not believe in insurance. The Amish everywhere will contribute to their needs, as will others I'm sure.
This tragedy is just beyond words. What horror watching your school friends being shot.
In this instance, it is warranted and is looked upon favorably by the elders and Amish and "English", alike.
The funerals begine tomorrow. With trust in the decency of everyone, we do hope they do not become a media circus and the wishes of the Plain community and the grieving are respected.
With respect to the now dropped plan of the lunatic fringe cultists from Kansas to demonstrate at the funerals, our hope is that the proper authorities investigate them for possible further degeneration into a mass murdering band of subhuman filth than they currently are.
God help us.
Thanks for the info.
Just make sure others know not to mess with our brothers and sisters here, no matter their manner of dress or worship.

I'm of two minds about that.
On the one hand, the Roberts family didn't ask for or deserve what happened, they've lost their father and breadwinner, and they're in for a very tough time.
On the other hand, I know that Saddam's support of the families of Palestinian homicide bombers created many more bombers than would otherwise have been, by shouldering their responsibility to care for their families.
