At least he resigned but I have some questions surrounding this whole mess:
-Did he know he was chatting with a teen and just how old was this teen?, i.e., was what he did criminal?
-How would he know the age? Do these chatrooms try to limit accessibility to adults?
-Was he using government property for this, as Clinton did?
-How did ABC News get the transcript? Was that legal?
To me that is a cop out! If you pick people of integrity to start with. You might get a great result.
I helped elect Senator Dr. Colburn and am so proud of that man and his integrity. We just need 50 more like him, or as close as we can get!
Foley, co-chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, helped write a law signed by President Bush in July that toughened prison sentences for sexual offenders. He told USA TODAY earlier this year the bill was needed because of online child exploitation. Referring to online predators, he said: "We're going to make your life a living hell." FBI looks at Foley's e-mails to teens
Living hell? So be it. He deserves nothing but revulsion and contempt -- no matter his party affiliation. He'll get no sympathy from me.
The teen he was chatting with was a congressional page under 16 years of age. He knows how old pages are. He is also co-chair of the congressional caucus on exploited and abused children. There was no chat room. He knew the page in question. It was instant messanging. I dont know if he was using government property but he was probably using his office computer. According to other pages, he would hit on them in the halls of congress. Dont get the idea this guy was framed. The leadership knew that he was dicking around and told him to lay off.
