Quebec police say an overpass north of Montreal has collapsed.
All-news channel LCN is reporting that at least one vehicle is trapped in the rubble and that five people have been injured.
Quebec provincial police say the overpass on Boulevard de la Concorde gave out early this afternoon, crashing onto Highway 19.
Emergency crews are on the scene.
Highway 19 connects Laval to the island of Montreal.
Ping!
Godspeed.
Holy crap! After seeing all those freeWAYS pancaked in SF during the World Series Earthquake, back in the 80s, I get a very ***queasy*** feeling every time I drive on bridges and overpasses. This just reinforces that feeling.
Prayers up!

I hope they check for anything like residual chemicals or corrosives.

Built by Boston's Big Dig Contractor?.........
Uh oh.
Maintenant je sens tant de coffre-fort ayant pris le métro de Laval à Montréal pendant mon séjour là. Son propre, sûr et convenable. Le centreville Montréal n'est pas que loin de la région Laurentides de Laval.

Thanks for the link. There must be something in the concrete in Laval - this is the second time an overpass has collapsed there this decade.
Mon dieu! Prayers for the families.

Parlez vous humma-humma?

You're welcome :)

Ye gad.
The really frightening thing is that there actually is a not-insignificant risk of pretty strong earthquakes in the whole St. Lawrence valley of Canada...
They're in serious, serious trouble if they're having overpasses drop of their own accord.
My thought exactly.
Look for the union label.

Or not in it - isn't the Mafia heavily involved in construction in the Montreal area?
Shortcuts to save money, skim off more profit maybe?
(Just speculating....)
