Another frog lipped queen predator is confirmed. Frog lips on these queens is about as common a trait as close set eyes on a person suffering from Downs Syndrome.

Just saying.

Considering his political "passion" was protecting young people from himself, we ought to make exceptions with all the rule of law stuff and just drag his ass to the square and publicly flog him. If it helps the process along, we can get drunk first, like they did in the old west.

Have you given one thought to the fact that there might be more pages this year since they sat on their hands?

And, as I said, the history is that exploited children become exploiters themselves-- so even if there were not any more pages exploited the ones who had been will likely exploit other children.

And yeah, this is surely timed for maximum political impact around election time. The new political hit ad is to have the dirt on someone and hold it until right near the election. Examples are plentiful. The "new" (hardly) information on Abramoff's contact with the WH for example.

But for this frog lipped predator (allegedly), drawn and quartered is too good. To their credit these kids today are pretty darn savvy and tough.

The normal bad acts of Congressmembers and their staffs have been known about for decades. Yes, they get away with all sorts of petty crap...all the time.

Keep in mind that I'm talking about both sides, here.

Collegiality is the keyword. You don't want to be ratting on your fellow congressman. It's just not done. It happens in all sorts of situations where a large group of people are involved in the same organization.

The media has, traditionally, let this stuff slide by. We don't see stories about the alcoholic Representative or Senator. We don't read about the congressman who's having an affair with his (adult) staffer or intern, even though it is common knowledge amongst people who are involved in the workings of Congress. It's just not done. There are several restaurants, watering holes, and hotels in the DC area where dalliances, etc. can be carried on in public with nothing said by anyone. It's how it is.

Then there are the pages. I tried to apply to be a page in my Junior year in High School. It sounded like an interesting way to spend a year. I soon discovered that the pages are chosen from the youngsters from big supporters of local congresspersons, not from the straight A student who has a father who works as an auto mechanic. It was my first exposure to how things actually work.

This complicates things, you see. If your kid is a page, sponsored by your local congresscritter, then you're likely a heavy supporter of that congresscritter. It is not to your benefit to have your son or daughter blowing whistles on any congressperson. Not at all. So, you tell the kid to keep his mouth shut. It's how things work.

There have been some media stories about the sexual activities of pages...mostly between themselves. Think about it...a bunch of eager, smart young boys and girls off to Washington for a year. I expect there are all sorts of liasons between these 16 and 17 year olds, and between somewhat older interns, staffers, and, yes, even the congresspersons themselves. These are not naive kids. They've grown up, for the most part, in privileged families and are coddled and encouraged to take their place in whatever society presents itself.

I dated the niece of a House Representative from California when I was in High School...briefly. A very self-assured, beautiful young woman from a wealthy family, with a very overactive libido, and unafraid of exercizing it. I dated her briefly, because she went off to be a Congressional page. This was back in 1962. I guarantee that, on her arrival in DC, she was exploring the possibilities there and doing whomever she wanted.

That's my reason for suggesting that this sort of thing is probably a lot more common than anyone realizes, and not just with the male pages.

Not much of it will come out, I don't think. But some will, and it could get ugly.

He should be sitting in a cell along side that Karr freak.
Sickening.

I will say however, if a single democrat comes at me with their high minded righteous indignation after protecting that pervert-in-chief I will smack them in the face.

Perverts are perverts!! They may be different but both perverts!!

He's single, not married. The family he's talking about embarrassing is his parents.

He's a dirtbag, predator and a hypocrite. Good riddance!

Ok Dane. We allow OUR Congressmen to go unpunished for 11 months until the media catches us, then we kick him out of congress. We are much better. Yay team.

Uh doggie ted kennedy has gone unpunished for 27 years

Oh BTW, doggie, here's another question you can answer if you have some modicum of reading comprehension, which scumbag is out of Congress today, September 30, 2006, democrat ted kennedy or Pubbie foley.

Yep. Foley is just one compassionate catamite-courting congressman who got caught. I'll bet there are PLENTY of them - chasing skirts and shorts - arrogantly thinking they will never get caught

Excellent post & I agree with you completely.

If only the GOP leadership had taken action the day they discovered Foley's activity. If they had, none of this would have been an issue and the leadership would have had the high ground because they took the necessary and correct action.

Instead they are on the defensive as they should be.
What did they know, and when did they know it? And most importantly, why didn't they do something to protect innocent children and get rid of a pervert in their midst? They could lose the majority status in Congress for their failure and no excuses in the world will save them.

Uh doggie, I as a registered democrat here state that the democrats should follow the lead of the GOP and make unethical Congressmen and Senators, such as barney frank and ted kennedy, resign today.

I will be checking for big four legged animals that go "moo" to be flying in the sky.

If it turns out that Republican Congressmen knew about Foley's penchant for teenage boys and did nothing except "warn" pages about him, they should all quit tomorrow.

I completely agree. So far all we have seen is a few dozen pages of email communications. One can only speculate whether Foley acted on his impulses and actually had sexual relations with young boys.
The GOP leadership has some splainin' to do and they'd better do it with full disclosure and appropriate action. If they hid the issues and covered up while this was going on with their knowledge they (and we) are in deep, deep trouble. And I'm not just talking about the GOP majority that could now be in jeopardy. There will be accountabilities.

Thanks for the support. Sometimes it's hard to tell when Dane's point of view is reflective of majority opinion at FR and when it isn't.

As has always been said, it's always about the coverup. America is the home of second chances and forgiveness. If the House GOP would have acted as soon as they sniffed this problem with Foley, it would have made a big difference. Voters would easily see it as some isolated incident by a pervert and would have given the GOP the benefit of the doubt. Now the story is much larger than that, needlessly so-- and voters won't be forgiving about that.

What 'cover-up'?

Just getting caught up this morning with all of the posts. From what I have read at your link and other media reports, the email in 2005 to the page was not explicit or sexual and Skimus or Alexander called the parents and the parents did not want any of this coming out, Foley denied any wrong doing, etc.
It doesn't appear to me that any of the leadership knew about the subsequent sexual IM's to the other former pages until yesterday when ABC released them. Even ABC is claiming that they did not have the sexual PM's to former pages until late thursday night.

I don't see a huge cover up at the leadership level like some of you do. Pelosi and the MSM are trying to confuse the public that the sexual PM's were known to the GOP leadership and there is absolutely no evidence of this being the case. If anything, I see the dems trying their best to implicate other republicans in this scandal for political purposes. It is going to get nasty and the truth needs to come out and the chips fall where they may, but so far there is absolutely no evidence that Hastert or any other GOP in leadership knew about the sexual PM's to the reported former pages(plural).
