Folks- Look, this is not a liberal or conservative issue in its truest sense. This is an issue about one man's reckless morality. Granted, were the disgraced congressman a democrat, we probably wouldn't have heard about this.
But as Republicans, we need to stand firm, admit guilt when those in our party commit wrongdoing, and make an example of them for all. Let us not try to justify this; let us not attempt to delineate this on party lines. For if we do, we risk falling into that illogical and irrational chasm that democrats today attempt to pull themselves out of.
The strength of our party rests deeply in Americans' right belief that when one of our own crosses the divide between good and evil, the party in whole doesn't crouch behind rhetoric or semantic legalities to escape due justice, but rather confronts the sin committed, punishes the perpetrator, and sets an example for future generations.
We won't ask for a redefinition of bad judgment, morality, pedophilia, or, the word "is". We will defend our moral constitution, even more vigorously when it is one of our own who dares to tread there upon.

Without question Foley is getting taken to task by the MSM because he is a Republican. If he had been a Democrat as I first thought this whole e-mail and AOL chat with that young man would have never been made public. Instead, it would have been buried with all the other crimes and homosexual exploits of the Liberal Democrats.

If Reynolds really knew this is the last thing he needed right now. His challenger is within two points in the latest Survey USA poll and that was with the Green party candidate -- now removed from the ballot -- drawing 8 points. Bad bad news.

This has just made a bad situation for the 2006 House elections much, much worse. I mean we were looking at losing some seats... but now FL-15... maybe Reynolds in New York if he really knew about it... and you know the media will be all over this. I guess in a way we could be "thankful" about the plane in Brazil story blocking this out for a while, but even that story is horrific. Just a bad day all round.

It gets worse. Roll Call is reporting that the only Dem member of the committee wasn't told about the interview even though the Republicans were.
"Rep. Dale Kildee (D-Mich.), who serves on the page board,
was never told of the interview with Foley."

Who are the three new victims? FL-15... maybe Reynolds?

Please. The Republicans did the right thing to boot foley out, and as others have stated all the Pubbies have to is bring up the democrats who have kept their psotions, (studds, barney frank, ted kennedy, etc.etc.)
A week is a lifetime in politics and there is 5 weeks till the election.
So get over your nevous nellienish.

Smug enough, but still don't address my main point(s). You still think the average American is perfectly fine with having a gay man or woman representing them, and I say that to believe that, you either A) are smoking crack, or B) buy into what that tube in your living room is feeding you lock, stock, and barrel. I also do not believe that you have an understanding of a "representative Republic" in the slightest, but few do any more; can't hold that against you.
By the way....calling my words a "hate-filled rant" is an old liberal trick; one that I won't take. Take a stand and you're "hate-filled". Bovine feces.

ROFL! Great post. Made me laugh when I was feeling nauseous over Foley. Thanks, glad to give you a chuckle.

Have a couple more:
If we have a problem with being related to apes, what about sharing a species with Janet Reno?
Janet Reno lost the democratic primary a while back down in Florida. When asked about it, she said, "I feel like I've been kicked in the nuts."

The following are humorous. Does anyone have more of these?

"Foley is a Republican" But he makes love like a democrat. Foley could register as a Democrat and win his seat back..

An absolute disgrace ... at any level for any reason.....
Yeah, but I the "rookie mistake" I referred to was the guy who assumed it was a Democrat...

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who introduced a privileged resolution friday night to require an ethics probe, criticized Republican leaders, who she said, "have known of the egregious behavior of Congressman Mark Foley, yet were prepared to adjourn tonight without an Ethics Committee investigation." That actually appears to be true, sadly. From that story, it appears clear that they were not proactive enough on this issue and when the story broke, their first priority was to protect themselves and not to investigate the scope of this year-old coverup and Foley's activities with minors.

Unlike what the democrats did with gerry studds(D-MA), who didn't resign and actually had sodomy in his Congressional office.
Oh yeah, those evil Republicans, GSC(aka DUmmie)

Their first priority was to protect themselves instead of protecting the minor, and they should be all tossed out on their ears for it. They have fallen in love with power so much that they are willing to do anything to keep it.

Many borderline voters will be so disgusted they will just reflexly pull the Democrat lever and vote for the party. Our leadership, it was just reported on Fox knew about this since the spring, and ALLOWED this to simmer just beneath the surface. Did they not thing the dems would exploit this? Is that the political accumen the leadership has? Sheeeeeesh!
You know, though, the difference between the Republicans and the Dems is the following: Republicans are truly disgusted and are honor-bound to remove one of their own. If Foley was a dem, they would be circling the wagon and trying to make excuses for him.
The dems are actually happy about that this has happened. They don't give a tinkers-damn about this 16 year old kid. They see this only as a political opportunity to exploit to the max. That is difference of substance in the dems and the Republicans. So, let's take a bitter dose of medicine and try to get as many Republicans elected as possible. God Almight! Nancy Peloci, Speaker of the House. What a frightening thought with which to contend.
