France : Writer of 'anti-Islam' article gets death threats

SAINT-ORENS-DE-GAMEVILLE, France, Sept 28, 2006 (AFP) — A French philosophy teacher was under police protection Thursday after receiving death threats over an article he wrote in a national newspaper that accused Islam of "exalting violence", school and police officials said.

Robert Redeker has not attended classes at his secondary school near Toulouse in southern France since September 19, when his opinion column appeared in the right-wing daily Le Figaro.

"He received written death threats in the form of emails. On the face of it they were pretty serious," said the lycée's headmaster Pierre Donnadieu.

Police confirmed the threat but refused to comment on the protection Redeker is receiving.

Under the heading "In the face of Islamist intimidation, what must the free world do?", Redeker described the Koran as a "book of extraordinary violence" and Islam as "a religion which ... exalts violence and hate".

Likening Islam to Communism, he said that "violence and intimidation are the methods used by an expansionist ideology ... to impose its leaden cloak on the world".

We are at war with Islamic Extremists (period). The terrorists we are fighting in Iraq are not from Iraq, but come from all of the surrounding Islamic countries to join in the Islamic fight against freedom. The Islamic terrorists routinely murder Iraqis. America is in Iraq to protect Iraqis and the rest of the world from Radical Islam. Iraq is the battlefield where extremists from multiple countries come to fight, and we are there to help the Iraqis (who are their own nation) fight the terrorists attacking their citizens.

If you haven't noticed the Islamic threat is worldwide. Over cartoons, the Popes comments, films, plays, and other expressions of free speech, Islamic fundamentalists have rioted, tortured, and murdered innocent people. If we do not fight them in Iraq, then we will continue to fight them in our own countries. This is a war over free speech and civil liberties, it is a war about people having the right to live out their lives and make their own choices as to how they want to dress, what they want to say, and who they wish to worship.

Radical Islam began because Mullahs saw that they were losing their power and influence. In order to keep Muslims under their control they created the new fundamental Islamic extremism that we see today. These Mullahs are Big Brother, and they are Tyrants. It doesn't matter who you vote for or how you vote, we are going to have to face this threat eventually. Pulling our troops out of Iraq or limiting freedom of speech so as not to offend Muslims, will only allow the threat to grow stronger before we face it. I for one suggests that we face the threat now, return freedom of speech and religion to the world, and not allow are children to grow up under the threat of Islamic Terror. Let’s not leave this battle for are children to fight; we need to take a stand now against radical Islam, and make the world safe for peace-loving people.

This grows very tiresome. These muslims with their false rhetoric. Do they not have eyes and ears? They are like the little child one gives a timeout too. Bad muslim, bad, now go stand in the corner until you figure out what the word violence means in civilized society.

We reject your islam and find no value in its study.

From left to right, the mobilisation to defend Robert Redeker's freedom of speech is growing in France.

Some examples (in french) :

Appel à pétition : Un professeur menacé après avoir publié une tribune sur l'islam

France-Echos

Le Figaro et la liberté d'expression

Sur Al Jazira, Youssef al-Qaradawi désigne Robert Redeker à la vindicte

The beginning of the Arab world... a quick Bible study to understand where all this enmity came from:

Abraham and Sarah are awaiting the promised son. Sarah gets impatient for the birth so she takes her 'Egyptian' maid and gives her to Abraham as another wife so she will give her that son. Hagar (the maid) becomes pregnant right away. She then flees back towards Egypt because Sarah becomes jealous and starts to mistreat her because of the pregnancy (girls will be girls)...God meets Hagar at the well and comforts her and then gives her this prophecy about her son, Ismael. Because Sarah didn't wait for God's coventential promise of a son from her and her husband and took matters into her own hands, we even today are experiencing the effects of not following God's plan.

Genesis 16:10-12 Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Have we posted the original article?

It seems islam is trying to prove it is a peaceful religion by killing all those who say or draw even the slightest negative thing about islam.

they need to start teaching that old "sticks and stones" saying in madrassas...:|

They need to start teaching it here in North American and in Europe, with the left's promotion and imposition of "hate speech" crimes and the restrictions of speech based merely on the fact that someone else is offended.

Let's see...?

Sticks and stones can break my bones, so they can probably break your bones. Where can I find some sticks and stones?

Is that the madrassas translation?
