All of this is a far cry from the lessons NATO and the United States gleaned from their successful peacekeeping operations in the Balkans. There we learned that we needed strong legal authorities, overwhelming military power, a comprehensive political and economic plan and close coordination with a high representative or special representative for the U.N. secretary-general to link nation-building activities on the ground with our military security operations. We put more than 40,000 troops into tiny Kosovo in 1999, with one tenth the population and one sixtieth the area of Afghanistan. In Bosnia, we had an international donors organization that measured progress and held contributing nations accountable. We knew that if the political-economic mission failed, NATO would fail. And we were determined not to fail.
The mission in Afghanistan is far larger, more distant and more difficult. And make no mistake: we are not winning. Instead, we are at a crossroads. If we persist in failing to face up to the profound economic and political requirements, if we neglect the need for strong coordination, if we think the mission is only about

I'm interested in the war in Afghanistan, but Clark has zero credibility. I was gonna read, but I find myself asking, what's the point?
Dear General ... Narcissism is a disease ... please get help.
And make an appt for your buddy Billy while you are there.
1. Clark led 78 day (pretty much failed) airwar against Serbia.
2. After late pres. Milosevic SIGNED aprooval, Clark entered Kosovo with ground forces. No millitary victory.
3. Clarks troops peacefuly watched while Muslim Albanians commited genocide over Christian Serbs.
4. Imagine Clark fighting talibans.
5. Thank God there are no Christians in Afghanistan.
6. Thank God there ARE REAL soldiers instead of Clark
Spitting on Clark, why?
We've been in the Balkans for over TEN YEARS, Weasley. Clintoon, the Warrior King, promised the troops would be home by Christmas, but of course, he didn't say what decade.
To have this glassy-eyed weasel giving advice on how to get our troops out of Afghanistan is rich. Only MSNBC would be that dumb.
I would have thought Clark's plan for Afghanistan would be to bomb the country and support the Afghan Liberation Army [Taliban] until Karzie surrenders.
LOL!
In the other hand... You got me scared there buddie!
Weasley Clark and Jimmy Carter spouting off this morning. It's enough to ruin my Thursday!
I think she wants a "Military Man" as VP because it can't "all be about the money, stupid".
Obviously he's not the best choice but it doesn't matter...she just needs a sucker to run with her.
Its amazing the egos of that war are patting each other on the back thinking it was something so huge we needed to win. That little tiny country and the opposition they faced could be likened to a walk in a water park not to offend anyone who served but in comparison... there is none. So shut up Wesley.

Sorry for the dbl posting.
Clark is garbage
Clark is reading from rhe Russian play book. They lost.
That's the point that jarred me the most. The Serbs, who unlike the Palestinians in the middle east actually had a legitimite claim to the land of Yugoslavia, were kicking butt and taking names against the moooooooslims who invaded their country. It was a civil war and Wesley Clark and the rest of his NATO crack whore buddies went in for the single purpose of putting down the Serbs.I put no stock in what this guy has to say and wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher !!!
And one should listen to Clark? Notice I did not address him as General. He was forced out of the service with the Army claiming that he falsified documents. I wonder what his buddies at West Point think about his conduct? This man has NO CREDIBILITY!
Weasely Clark
If you'd ever worked for him you'd know why. (I did, twice, ack spit)
Yeah Weasley, we know. First thing to do is exchange caps with the head terrorist.
