Former [UVA Football] Teammate: George Allen Stuffed Deer Head into Black Fmaily's Mailbox

US Senator George Allen is responding to more allegations of racist behavior.

The latest comes from a former college teammate.

Former teammate Doctor Ken Shelton says, "Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place.'"

"He used the N-word on a regular basis back then," said Shelton, who was in Salon.com.

During a hunting outing with Allen and another teammate, Shelton says Allen drove the three to a black neighborhood and "he proceeded to take the doe's head and stuff it into a mailbox."

Bishop Gerald Glenn says he used to see Allen as a Confederate flag waving redneck and has talked to the senator about his perception problem in the African American community.

While the two still disagree on key issues, Glenn says assassinating Allen's character does nothing for the voters of Virginia.

Allen told reporters today that he and Doctor Shelton weren't close and haven't spoken to each other in more than 30 years. Other teammates have released statements saying they've never heard Allen use racial slurs.

Allen's approval rating is down in the latest poll released today by SurveyUSA. The poll was taken last week, so the numbers do not reflect possible reaction to the Salon.com article.

Allen should say: "When I was young and racist, I was young and racist."

I agree, only I'd say "When I was young and dumb."  To this day I find it completely foolish for people to equate the use of the 'n' word with racism. If that's all racism was about it wouldn't be a problem in society. Racism is something much uglier than word labels.

Old sayings like "sticks and stones may break my bones..." become old sayings for a reason; they've proven true over time.

Thanks. I would just ask that you stop thinking about 2008. This is not about 2008, it is about 2006 and control of the Senate, and it is about stopping a vicious and hateful Democrat smear campaign. I was never a supporter of George Allen in 2008. But as I said, I lived in Virginia for 22 years, I voted for Allen for Governor and for Senator, and was proud to do so. Virginia deserves to have a real Senator with principles, not some idiot former Republican who has sold his soul to the devil. Jim Webb in the Senate would be a DISASTER for Virginia and for Republicans.

Say SD; How about the 3 Democrat Activist accusers prove their claims. The Accused does not have to prove their innocence. The Accusers have to prove their claims. You seem to accept the 3 accusers word as gospel and ignore the 16 witnesses who have refuted their lies, why is that?

I say you are a Democrat Campaign activist trolling around Conservative websites spewing transparent political propaganda.

Instead of repeating the 3 stooges accusations as dogma and ignoring the 16 witnesses that say they are lying in every post, prove that you are not just another Democrat activist stodge.

See NOW why the accusers have to prove their case instead of the accused prove their innocence?

No matter what you try to do to prove your innocence, I can just make up a new accusation. So prove you are not a Moveon.org activist spreading Democrat Campaign propaganda.

Typical Leftist political gutter politics. Make up the most wildest accusations possible then demand your foes waste all their time and effort proving YOUR wacko accusations fale.

Clearly the same media market. I mean, who would even think to put deer parts in mailboxes? He'd had to hear it somewhere before.

Yup, and I am not sure that this is some kind of common prank in the boonies. I have been through about half of a search of "deer head mailbox" on google and have yet to find a similar incident. That's the only one so far*, and it just happened to occur in his media market right before he started floating this story, which was shortly after the other principal conviently died.

I don't care that he has M.D. after his name, this is just too much coincidence when you factor in his political leanings and anti-tobacco activism.

* There was one other incident where someone broke a fake ornamental deer on someone's lawn and put the parts in the mailbox. Hardly the same.

But what if he WASN'T "young and racist"? What if he was at a football team party or a frat party and they all started throwing around racial stuff and he said some things just to "fit in"? He was a quarterback trying to acclimate himself in a school 2000 miles from where he grew up, and in a culture that was totally foreign to him. Is it inconceivable that he might have parroted some things he heard his offensive linemen saying, so they would think he was "one of the guys" and OK? Is it unrealistic that he would have no recollection of this and be telling the truth that such words were not really in his vocabulary? He certainly did not learn them at home. Is it fair to judge that by today's standards, and expect that Allen should have scolded his teammates then, or should apologize for it now? I don't think so!

Very Likely, and perhaps a queer to boot as this is in Salon.

Yes, and I believe that more and more Americans are becoming aware of this complete double standard.

You are completely right - it is nothing more than a smear campaign and a childish one at that. The sleazy connections of this Shelton dude with the anti-tobacco groups reeks of set up. Then you factor in the comment Shelton's wife made about "they told us not to talk to Fox" -that's a dead giveaway to dirty DNC fingers.

Adviser says governor "faked" stance on abortion

"Governor Mitt Romney's top political strategist [Mike Murphy] has told a prominent conservative magazine that his client has been ''faking" his support of abortion rights in Massachusetts."

The democrats and RINOS must be very afraid of this man!

That's exactly what I am thinking. They are expending a LOT of effort to keep the racist label upon this man.
