Oil is a fungible commodity.

Don't bother them with sense and facts.

I haven't gone to Citgo in years. But there is one about two blocks from my house that my wife l ikes to frequent for price and convenience.

No more!! Yesterday she told me she couldn't buy from Citgo, anymore. And she's a social worker, so a little more liberal than I am, although not nearly so much as her colleagues.

Anybody got a favorite low price gasoline supplier?

Not only that but as a commodity, gasoline you buy at a CITGO Station comes from the very same source as gas you buy at an Exxon Station.

It seems some people believe that Hugo's Brother in Law drives a CITCO Tanker from Venezuela to their neighborhood gas station and fills up the tanks under the gas station.

The fact is that around 20% of the gas you buy is from Venezuela and the money goes into Hugo's pocket.

CITGO announced last month they were closing every gas station in the U.S.

Kick the UN off of US soil once and for all too.

Iranian leader, and now Chavez blasting the U.S. on OUR property. The Founders are rolling in their graves.

Do you have any concept of how gasoline is distributed around the country?

They opened a Citgo station right next to the local Wal Mart. Just today I was driving by and saw the irony in that. We have people all over the US complaining about Wal Mart and the real enemies are right under their noses.

A good friend of ours owns 5 of the local Citgo stations. I won't do that to him. He had his stations long before whacky Chavez came into office and it's not his fault this is happening.

Corpus has two Citgo refineries and is the headquarters for most of the Circle K Stores in Texas. That means we have alot of Circle K stores that also sell Citgo gas. But last month they annnounced a deal to change over to Valero which is a Texas based company that has no foreign ties. Valero goes in my tanks and nothing else.

Where does the Valero Gas you put in your tank come from?

Valero is known for taking the heavy, dirty crude and refining it. I think alot of that stuff is in the Gulf of Mexico.

Yes, I have read about the strategies of Valero's E&P Department.

However, my point is that the gas that is actually delivered to the Valero Station comes out of the same source, pipeline and distribution center as the gas you would buy at CITGO or Exxon.

Gasoline is a commodity and around 20% of all of our gas comes from Venezuela.

Do you have any concept of manners? I asked a question as to whether Citgo operates stations in California. Also as part of that, if they supply oil to California retailers then I would like to know that as well. Why did that require an insulting reply?

Sorry about that. I thought you said that BP and ARCO oil comes from the UK and Alaska while Shell oil comes from Africa.

BP or Arco is largely from British or Alaskan oil fields. Shell comes from African and North Sea sources.

My point was that there is no way to determine what company produced the gas that ends up in your gas tank.

No matter the original source of the oil, if the Citgo brand is marketed by Citgo Petroleum Corporation, which is owned by Petróleos de Venezuela, why wouldn't boycotting this brand affect the success of Petróleos de Venezuela/Chavez?

CITGO is based in Houston and has thousands of American employees.

Moreover, One gallon of gas not bought at CITGO Will not decrease the amount of oil bought from Venezuela.
In other words Hugo makes money from gas no matter what store the gas is bought from. If you want Hugo to earn less money you need to buy less gas not boycott CITGO.
