Toronto Film Festival managing director Michelle Maheux said, "This country would never allow something like this to happen."
Wanna bet? If they were in Canada and referred to Pierre Trudeau as a "stupid frog", they'd be ostracized just as they are here.

What does that mean? Canadinas are forced to watch, read, and listen to what the government tell them to?

You want them, Canada, take them.
Consider it payback for Anne Murray and k.d.Lang.

You never EVER have to ask again.
YES ABSOLUTLY!!! you look fat in that outfit.
To: HatingToronto
What can we do to fight back against this film, and the Chicks?? Don't go, don't buy their stuff, and don't even mention them. They are irrelevant and they should be ignored.

"This country would never allow something like this to happen."What, Canadians are told which concerts to attend and which albums to buy??? Canada wouldn't let the Chicks make the statement in the first place? Fans in revolt would be muzzled? That statement doesn't make a lick of sense.

It's awful sad that the NY Post didn't quote your post in full.
Of course, that would show you posted a substantive argument instead of just insults.

I won't insult them, since we are apparently being watched by Big Brother of the Tundra. But I will say that I am enjoying their failure. They brought it upon themselves. Their failure is richly deserved.

Seeing as how you've only posted two threads in the eight days since signup, both about this deluded, outré trio of shunned, former Texans, with no responses from you whatsoever, I think you're jumping the gun with this "we" business.

We become riled up whenever anyone trashes the US. Conservatives love this country - liberals don't.

Is Canada as politically divided as we are? They certainly have their share of shrill, impotent media; yet a conservative is their prime minister.

The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind, and others are free to respond.
Why is the concept of free speech so hard to understand?

To: Paradox
It's completely lost on them, just as with Maines whining that she has no freedom of speech unless everyone is forced to listen to and adopt her views. Any dissent and she's being persecuted.
She's got a far bigger problem with her ignorance than she does her weight.

To: Hildy
Hi Hildy I do not have anything horrible to say about the chick's. I did like their music and still hum along to some of their older stuff. The only thing about them is that they think their entitled,go figure, to fame.Once Natalie expressed herself I chose to express myself also,I no longer listen and will not purchase their stuff. This is also true for other "stars" also.Go ahead say what you want but be ready for consequences.
