WELL, at least the Dixie Chicks have the Canadians on their side. After Tuesday's premiere of Barbara Koppel's documentary about the Chicks, "Shut Up and Sing" - which is about how their fans revolted after Natalie Maines bashed President Bush two years ago - Toronto Film Festival managing director Michelle Maheux said, "This country would never allow something like this to happen." While the Canadian crowd ate up the movie, conservatives were riled up again - specifically with lead singer Maines, who calls President Bush a "dumb [bleep]" in the film. "What a fascist little bee-atch!" said one angry post on the FreeRepublic.com blog. Another called the group "the Dixie Sluts," and a third described Maines as a "classless little fat ass." The flick screens at the Woodstock Film Festival next month.

The Dixie Chicks are cancelling shows due to poor ticket sales.
Shows announced for St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis and Memphis have been pulled from the schedule. The public on-sale date for a September show in Houston has been canceled as well.
Dixie Chicks concert sales lacking
"Why is the concept of free speech so hard to understand?" Because Canadians don't have free speech.
Does this mean that Canadians will enjoy the Dixie Chicks in concert or else?
I do like the comment about how Canada would never allow the Chicks to be boycotted. What would they do, drag us to the store and force us to buy albums?
Cause if this is Natalie Maines - I'm hiring the guy to take pictures of me. I'd end up looking like a goddess!!

Hey what gives, I never called her "little".
Their first three albums were very good. However, the majority of the music and lyrics were written by other people. This last album was done 100% by the Chicks and produced by icon-maker Rick Rubin. I've only heard 2 songs of the album, but they don't sound anything like Fly, Home, or Wide Open Spaces (other than vocals).
On another note, I'm not objective enough to say whether I'd like the new sound or not. But with over 55% of the sales reciepts in for this week, Taking the Long Way is not in the top 50 of sales. However, Rascal Flatts (23 weeks), Tim McGraw (24 weeks), Josh Turner (33 weeks), and Carrie Underwood (43 weeks) have all been on the charts longer than the Chicks' latest album (17 weeks). And they are still selling good.
Does anyone know if Taking the Long Way has sold 2 million copies yet?
The manager who has been advising the Chicks that the old Hollywood saying, "there's no such thing as bad publicity" hasn't been doing them any favors.
When you're in a hole, stop digging.
Wow, a bunch of lefties hollywood type film festival attendees embraced the Dixie Chicks, didn't see that one coming.
Maybe he was stoned?
Don't forget Bryan Adams.
Stunt Body.
That nails it!
Somebody ought to make one as a test case.
And Josh Turner is a whole lot better to look at.
"Baby lock the door and turn the lights down low..."
Nope. He's as dumb as a box of rocks.
