I have no problem with the NIMBYs but they should be barred from the use of any services they oppose and they should have to pay the owner of the property for the loss of use of his property.I like that idea!

The $800 million terminal would be located 14 miles off the coast of Malibu. That explains it. NIMBY-ism from the rich and famous who inhabit the utral exclusive Malibu Colony. If the Hollyweird twits really wanted to protect the environment, they'd clear out of Malibu Colony and turn it into a nature preserve.

I think they should build the terminal somewhere along the Columbia, or in the waters off northern Washington state.I don't live in Southern California anymore and I'm 33 miles from the ocean. Build the damned terminal where you choose. Oh, and may you have fair winds and following seas.
So...let me see if I get this straight. Let's not build it 14 miles offshore, because there is a lot of shipping traffic. However, we should build it at a river, inland (possibly), where the effects of any feasible accident or incident would be a lot more disastrous.
Is it me, or is your logic faulty?

I would love to know which one of the Hollyweird types would be able to see this plant, 14 miles offshore. I mean, I know their beachfront mansions afford them great visibility, but I don't know many folks who could see that from 14 miles away.

I've sailed the channel since I was a kid and we never
had a problem with traffic. Even with the jack up rigs scattered all through the channel, we never had a problem, plus it's 14 miles off shore.

I wonder if he's still a fall-down drunk, like the time I saw him several years ago - at lunchtime - at some Beverly Hills restaurant.
He was pounding 'em down at the bar the whole time we had a business lunch in the dining room....he left at the same time, and I'm astounded the valet let him have his car.

Well he became a US citizen in 2004 so he can have an opinion, even if it's a bad one.

I mean, I know their beachfront mansions afford them great visibility, but I don't know many folks who could see that from 14 miles away. They could probably see it on a very clear day, but they can see the tankers and other shipping going by off the coast on most days anyway. The terminal wouldn't be any worse that seeing shipping. At it's closest point, Santa Catalina Island is abut 20 miles off the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and you can't see it from the mainland except on an exceptionally clear day.

I am outraged that this idiot (Brosnan) has caused the Bond movies I have in my collection to be no longer palatable. I demand my money back.

I'm sorry, I didn't think a sarcasm tag was needed. I guess I was mistaken.
