Today the Italian writer Oriana Fallaci is dead.

Sorry FRiends, but I'm really sad. She, with her books, tauch me what FReedom means. It was for her that I stood with America after September 11.

I always say that two dates change my life: September 11 2001 when the Twins Towel fell and September 29 2001 when her first article "The Rage and the Pride" was pubbished on an Italian newspaper. Whit her courage she show me that we don't have to be worry, that we have to fight for FReedom and for our values.

And if I do it today, it's only thank her.

GRAZIE ORIANA, THE WORLD HAS MISSED A GREAT MIND.

Claudia

ps: Sorry my bad English.

Wow, what a loss. She was an incredibly brave, intelligent woman. I enjoyed reading her writing. Rest in peace.

It shocked me that out country sees the '60 Minutes' stooges as the hard hitting journalists but gave short shrift ot Oriana. She was probably the last writer with a set of gonads.

Your post is how I found out about her death.

An inspiring voice and a vivid scream of defiance against what has been happening in her world.

A tragic day for mankind and very sad for me personally :-(.

We'll miss her too Claudia. She was a real firebrand, a rare commodity that was willing to stand up for what is right no matter who threw obsticles in her way.

Heaven is a lot more fun today because she is there.

A strong-willed lady who wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in.

She will be missed.

The news is all over the blogs I frequent. She will be mourned and missed by many. I believe I shall spend today reading Eurabia, though it certainly won't cheer me up....

Is there any writer in Europe that approaches her? I knew what I felt about Islam but when I found out Oriana did too, then read her last two books...wow. She wrote with the logic of the French, the reason of a Englishman, and the passion and history of an Italian. What a combination. Her books would get me going such that I'd have to read only a few pages at a time I would get so excited and mad.

I'm afraid the media here, cowards, worms of writers, thin pale people one and all, won't make much of her passing.

Actually The Force of Reason is a continuation of The Rage & the Pride. I would buy both as a set...excellent gift!

Perfect enunciation, and denunciation. A pox be upon them.

For someone identified with the European Left, life changed her. It made her a wiser and stronger person. Her final illness somehow seemed to add rather than detract from her stature. We now await the translation of the final volume of her "Rage" trilogy into English. Rest in peace, Oriana Fallaci!

May she rest in peace.

Her writing has had a profound affect on me and has changed the way I view the world.

As a direct result from her writing, I have a much greater understanding of the enemy at the gate.

Farewell, Oriana, may you go to the peace you so richly deserve. May you be reunited with your family with the Lord.

From the International Herald Tribune obit:

"I am an atheist, and if an atheist and a pope think the same things, there must be something true. It's that simple!" Fallaci told The Wall Street Journal in a recent interview.
