>>>Clayton Williams is lying back and enjoying this...

The man was a sleaze, and the GOP deserved the loss that year for nominating the SOB.

They are both examples. There's the more southern gentile type, and the more wild west type. Ann Richards was more like the wild west type. Both are very typical Texas women types.

Nothing is sacred to liberals. If they get the opportunity to stand on the back of dead woman to make desparaging remarks about others, they will take it every time. They are bottom feeders.

That's real folksy, Doug but a baseball player is not an elected politican who has power to make yours or my life miserable by the kinds of laws that are passed.

She wasn't wishy-washy. You knew where she stood on things. She was a liberal and proud of it.

She was also a better governor than a lot of previous governors (which is a very sad thing to say about Texas governors).

I have to admit that I liked her comebacks and style.

Me too. I liked Ann Richards a lot more than I really wanted to.

Don't misunderstand me. I didn't like her. But I am giving credit for what was a really good political line. That's all.

Ann was a fantastic governor. I literally cried when the election results came in with Bush as the winner. She is the only democrat for whom I have ever voted and would vote for her again tomorrow if I were in Texas and she were alive and running.

She was not a raving liberal as many are describing here. She loved Texas and Texas will miss her.

How about Hitler? Is is tactless to speak ill of him? Are all dead people immune from criticism? I am trying to understand the rules.

Yes, she was a tough old Texan bird. She reminded me of my grandmother, also from Texas. If you heard either one talk you wouldn't have been able to tell them apart. Prayers for her family and friends.

Veronica,

Let me put it to you this way. I am sure your mother is a wonderful person. But even a wonderful person has people that don't agree with them. On the week of your mothers passing would you like those people to post how bad she was? I know I would not want that for my mother.

Ann Richards has family too.

Oh my. Did someone really bring Hitler into this? Is there a thread in any forum that hasn't had THAT name invoked as a means of supporting an argument?

If anyone here takes umbrage at me pointing this out, I just want you to know... I think you're Hitler : )

Ann Richards was a public figure. Public people invite scrutiny and sometimes, criticism. Goes with the territory.

Hi kook. Obsess much...?

Just curious, languid, did you ever obsess over that kook 'Conservababe' while you spent your time honing your talons at CP?

I think she was banned...was she one of those 'harpies' you mention?

Guess I was raised to be honest and truthful, instead of hypocricial and superficially dishonest.

How about just being silent??

There are a whole lot of us on this forum who are honest and truthful, and not a single bit hypocritical, but know when to open our mouths and when not to.

This is one of those times when discretion is the better part of valor, and discretion means holding your criticism for another day and another thread.

That's what the 'raised better' folks are doing here.....

At least you didn't mean it, I hope.

Ann Richards vetoed a right-to-carry bill. Ann Richards supported the rights of violent criminals to prey on their victims.

More criminals were executed under her term as Governor than under Bush's term as Governor.
