At the time, I saw media coverage of how the Muslims considered dogs unclean (this granddaughter is a future wildlife biologist, she loves interaction with nature and its creatures) and how in a world dominated by the Taliban dogs, cats, etc. were detested. And, of course, a Barbie without a burka was a no no.

I may have been off base, but at the time all I thought about was how we had been attacked, and how I feared for the future of this granddaughter and all children who will be here long after I am deceased.

Her parents, and most people I know, were/are not into anything except their own comfort, and having material comforts. I just felt she needed to be walked through a lesson on how freedom is not something many children across the globe will ever, or have ever, experienced.

I think she did eventually end up picking out a stuffed horse, some pajamas, school clothes and school supplies for the children there.

I think since this will be shown in schools they went for the younger audience. The kids like the fast cuts. They keep the story together-even with last minute edits-they pulled it off.

One thing I feel sure of is nothing that I say or opine has not already been strongly considered by security personell in this country. We are safer than prior to 9-11.

That puts you in the top percentile of Freepers to say that! Too often it's "If those ignorant bastards would just make me king, I'd fix everything." I think someone else named it the "Dick Clarke American Grandstand" complex.

That stuff is utter nonsense. I haven't a lick of patience for it.

I just saw World Trade Center this evening and would recommend it. The movie was surprisingly well done. It will have you in tears.

I thought the same thing....gggrrr that is exactly the way he sounded when he testified to the 9/11 Commission. I am the hero, I knew this was going to happen, nobody listened to me..yadda yadda yadda

I am also upset with my 7th grade sons reading teacher. They were discussing "cause and effect" of 9/11 and my son tells me that some of the causes put on the board was, religion, terrorists, Gulf war, and then his teacher, not a student, but the teacher put on the board PRESISENT BUSH. My son asked why and she said "i have heard some people say that he knew it was going to happen and didn't do anything about it". my son pointed out that Clinton didn't do anything either and he was in office longer and other bombings had been done by bin laden and he didn't do anything either and she told him that she didn't want to get into a debate about it. I am emailing her, but am trying to calm down first.

Any suggestions on what to say?

Massoud was incredible. Just a great man, not afraid in anyway. We have too many men in this country who lack the courage of a Massoud. Here was someone we could have worked with and maybe avoided 9-11 but people in the government preferred to help the Taliban (OBL) because it was just easier to throw money there way. This movie did a wonderful showing the villians and heroes. Barbara Bodine is a Sh... That woman has blood on her hands.

What the Taliban did to the women of Afghanistan?
What are you talking about - the women of Afghanistan have it worse now then when the Taliban were in power.
...
I kid you not I met a young woman last Friday night who claimed the above. I could not believe it. She claimed she had been there and saw it all!~ Talked to the women of Afghanistan and they all told her the above.
These people on the Left will be our downfall. Our own damned so called fellow country men and women.
Its unreal.

yes I agree. I have my "passion" but will be honest to admit I am not one of the shining lights of political/historical savvy. I also learned so much

I wish they could have worked the Hear no Evil, etc. photo into the movie. What a bunch of maroons. (At least Mad-ee covered her lap with a pillow).

"It hurts me to see our president work so hard to preserve our freedoms and change the Middle East with so little gratitude or appreciation of how hard his incumbency has been compared to Clintoon's cakewalk.
Yes, Bush too, even in life, already belongs to the Ages."

It bothers me that people seem embarrassed to say they support Bush or that he is right, and that he is a good man. It is as if they think the PC thing to say is I don't agree with everything he does, or he is better than the alternative.
It makes me crazy that more people won't stand up for him with pride and say what a great man he is.

What ever happened to the good old days when stupid people just went missing. (joking...sorta)

You really need to do your own homework in regards Japanese Internment. [Irrelevant blah-di-blah deleted]

It doesn't matter even if it was limited to two hairdressers in Topeka. So what was the authority under which they were interred? None of the information you gave is relevant to that question of where the authority to do such came from. More misdirection from you. We are trying to answer YOUR question here. Was it a law, presidential decree, military order, or what? Under what authority were they interred?

Yes, I think you're right; children are used to video games and sadly, few have much capacity to sit still through a lot of dialog.

Thanks so much. Just because I wasn't posting here doesn't mean I wasn't reading here. I'm just not that interested in anything having to do with Clinton.

It gets old having to explain that I wasn't just born the day I joined FR. That's all. I feel certain there are things I know way more about than the people who talk down to me know about - and vice versa. That way, it's all kind of even.
