"Who's Kathy Couric?"

Dan Rather and Connie Chung's lovechild, almost all grown up.

On tv this morning, they did a blurb claiming that ratings were UP since Katie took over. They were preening her, and I think trying to manufacture momentum for her.

I think she averaged the highest for the week overall. However.....

"If I was Rupert Murdoch, I would tart up some 20 something blonde bimbo, put her in a bikini and have her read the news. Can you say ratings bonanza? "

For $15 million a year, you could get the entire Swedish bikini team and enough spare change to invest the rest and hire a newsreader from Topeka.

CBS's plan was to have it become an "Oprah" version of the evening news.
Good luck with that CBS.

She has a CONTRACT....she's not going anywhere, but we can sure make it UNPLEASANT for her!!

The contract says they have to PAY her for 3 years. It does not say they have to put her on the air.

Maybe too many buttons are buttoned on her blouse. Isn't that why we have female news "babes" anyway?

Don't shoot me. I haven't had TV since '97. I wouldn't know this woman if we shared a cab. But I know what our culture rewards.

Oh...right.....but they still won't push her out IMHO....look how long they kept Rather in last place.

If only she had at least that redeeming quality. She doesn't.

As if that concept was somehow a "good thing". Seriously, is there anyone who heard of Katie's move and pay package that didn't think it was like pouring money down a drain?

The suits are really ticked. They were so certain that Katie could do the job that they spent millions on promotion that worked. It got here a big audience.

The only problem was it only took days for Katie to drive that audience away.

They have two choices, blame themselves or blame Katie. I think they will get rid of Katie as quickly as possible. Every day she is there is a remimder that they made a huge mistake.

They kept Rather in place because no one wanted to take the blame if Rather's replacement bombed worse than Rather.

They will get rid of Katie for two reasons... The news staff will keep saying... we told you so and leaking to the other media that WE TOLD YOU SO!!! They will need to remove the constant remimder that they made a huge mistake. They will get rid of Katie and hire someone the news department likes.

"...All that's left for Her Perkiness is a wardrobe malfunction,...

She already had one in my book. What's with all the black and white outfits---one right after the other for each of the three days??? If they're trying to approach her wardrobe with a subliminal, they're ...."misunderestimating" us! ;-)

CBS truly a network run by idiots. The WSJ had an article that a Koppel less Nightline is now on many nights being Letterman in the reruns.
