Did anyone else see the exchange between President Bush and the Today show's Matt Lauer this morning on the Today show?
I tuned in near the end, and it looked pretty intense. Lauer was a very aggressive in his hand gestures, repeatedly pointing a stern finger into the president's chest. Almost looked like it would turn physical. Would appreciate a link to any online video.
Well, I just watched the video from the link provided and the President made Lauer look like a whiney little crybaby.
The President kept throwing the original remarks Matt made back at him. (Matt originally was crying about having to make emergency plans with his family about what to do if there was an attack, etc.)
The President kept personalizing it back to Matt... as in the things I'm doing are designed to keep Americans safe, including you and your family.
Yes, he did have to explain over and over again why we use certain techniques to get information.
And Matt kept worrying about were those techniques legal,... and, gee whiz, were they nice?
Over and over again, the President patiently explained why we have to do these things, yes, they are legal, yes, we've saved the country from attacks by using them.
I cannot believe that even the usual moonbat watchers of the Today show were not saying, Go, Mr. Bush. Do what you need to do to keep us safe and let Matt worry about a terrorist who might be a bit uncomfortable at times.
He pretty well did just that!
Maybe people like Lauer serve a purpose by making W put it in terms a 9 yr old could understand :-}
Which one? Grandma or the twin? If they put young Barbara Bush kicking Matt Lauer's butt on Pay-Per-View, they could retire the National Debt.
The President should have asked, "Matt, what are you more worried about---your family's security and ability to sleep at night? Or whether or not Khalid-Muhammad gets wet"?
Grandma Barbara!!
Would have loved to see a Secret Service agent pull a "Terry Tate - Office Linebacker" on pretty-boy Lauer. I'd actually pay to see that.
He made that point over and over; he just didn't get snippy about it.
I just watched it myself.
Don't worry too much about Chrissy. Being on MSNBC, there are more people tuned into The Food Channel than his show...... ....
LOL
political cowardice and whimpiness is beginning to be the trend for the RNC "leaders".
They don't want to appear "mean spirited" - the cry-babies might get offended.
Lauer's eyes are closed, just like his mind.
I agree, it was good at the beginning and only got better all the way to the end. It started being great when Lauer asked him how he dealt with the pressure of his terror briefings and President Bush forcefully said "I trust in Almighty God...and I trust the people around me to do their jobs."
Another great line, when he was talking about the opposition they've gotten for programs like wiretapping, was something like "And people overseas who question our methods, well for them, September 11 was a bad day. For us it was a change of attitude." And the emphatic attitude with which he said it - priceless.
Shortly into it they showed the clip of the President at Ground Zero with the bullhorn saying "and the people who knocked down these buildings will hear ALL of us soon!"
The president who said that at Ground Zero that day came through loud and clear to Matt Lauer in this interview. Bush was the one who was poking fingers into chests, NOT Lauer. Great stuff.
Lauer reflects precisely what the slime network wants in front of the public. Don't blame the haples fool Lauer, blame his bosses for the sleazy, rude, leftist, democrat party sycophancy of hate represented by NBC. And they relish the fact that they are creating more of their ilk with their denegrating propaganda.
Nine, that's about right for a liberal's cognitive ability..........
NOo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That gaseous excrement might explode and the president would be sh*&-faced.
A............men.
