I am about 20 miles north of Orlando and felt nothing. But the news said people in Altamonte Springs, Leesburg and Clermont felt it.

How the earthquake is felt depends alot on the kind of soil you're standing on at the time.

It's because Charlie Crist won the GOP primary. I'm sure of it.

There have been huge earthquakes on the east coast....I believe a 7 or so that did a lot of damage in South Carolina or so around 1800.

These quakes can be felt for much longer distances on the east coast as well.

I'm betting that the folks in Fort Myers and Cape Coral felt it, though.

I'd agree that somebody will try to bump oil prices because of this. Too bad I won't be affected because I still have ~1 month left in my tactical petroleum reserve (initiated last year to tide me over the start of hurricane season and Labor Day every year now). Still waiting for Diesel prices to drop significantly.

Holy crap, so that's what that was! My whole house shook a bit a little after 11:00 this morning. Nothing serious, some of the stuff on the shelves rattled a bit.

Don't we have enough to worry about with the hurricanes, the heat, the gators and the bugs? Now we have to deal with earthquakes?

Eats, shoots, and leaves! Clearly the hurricane generator needs calibration.

I had to verify the drilling depths of our rigs --- this earthquake WAS within drilling limits:

The DEEPWATER HORIZON
Max Drill Depth 30,000 ft / 9,144 m

The DISCOVERER DEEP SEAS
Max Drill Depth 35,000 ft / 10,668 m

The SEDCO EXPRESS
Max Drill Depth 35,000 ft / 10,668 m

Was it really that bad? How far are you from the epicenter!

Was it so bad it was noticeable!

When Karl Rove put Dick Cheney to work finding oil in the GOM in time to drive down gas prices before the election, he knew that the heavy use of HAARP, the Halliburtoon weather machine, and the Dick Cheney earthquake maker, would likely result in a noticeable earthquake. That was a chance the cynical mastermind was willing to take.

Sarcasm tag.

'I don't think there is any US Tsunami warning center that tracks the Gulf of Mexico, but a 6.0 earthquake probably doesn't have the energy to cause a major tsunami."

Plus the water in the gulf is too shallow to form tsunami's of any significant size.

Funy, I was at Sam's. When I got home my wife was complaining that a big truck must have gone down the road because the walls were rumbling while I was out. I told her she was crazy.
Well she is still crazy. But she was right this time too!
