A majority of Canadians believe U.S. foreign policy was one of the root causes that led to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and Quebecers are quicker to criticize the U.S. administration for its international actions than other Canadians, a recent poll suggests.
Those conclusions are found in a newly released poll conducted by Léger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies.
The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.
Canadian opinions have hardened against the United States and its role on the world stage, said Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association for Canadian Studies. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to a change of heart among people, he said.

You are quite plainly an idiot: simply substitute 'Americans' for 'Canadians in any of your statements & then tell me that you wouldn't be offended.
Again, worry about commies & Islamofascists on own your side of the border rather than gratuitously insulting America's friends & allies.

"Tell me if I am under a false impression. Two leading propagandists who created the illusion that US foreign policy was responsible for 9/11 were Michael Moore and Ward Churchill. Both are US citizens."
Seems pretty accurate with the New York Times in 3rd place followed by most of the 'Rat elected Officials in Washington in a virtual tie tie for 4th.

And we get criticised for our 'go it alone' attitude? There isn't any other country with the gonads to fight this war. Screw them all. Seal the northern border, too, and don't let any of those foul Canucks cross it to use our superior medical facilities.

It wouldn't surprise me if they WERE the ones polled.

The scariest part: "When participants were given the option of choosing more than one cause for the attacks, two-thirds blamed Islamic fundamentalists and their anti-Western views, while a third pointed the finger at Israel and its position in the Middle East."
So one-third of Canadian "participants" do NOT blame Islamic fundamentalists and their anti-Western views? Who do they think flew the planes into the buildings? Sheez!

Given the countless families with branches on both sides of the border, yours is both an especially insulting & foolish comment.
Surely, a legitimate patriot wouldn't disparage his nation's historic friends & allies.
Particularly a partner in the war on terror whose troops in Afghanistan have disposed of over 300 Taliban vermin over just the past week alone.

Thanks for the WHOLE story. Sure as hell beats the fictionalized version we were handed earlier.

Thanks for that link.
It was great to travel along for a bit, if only vicariously, with our warriors.
Learning what they do for us is humbling and fills me with gratitude.

"There are a lot of people who think we should be listening closely [to extremist groups] and that there is an opportunity to dialogue with these sort of groups," said Jedwab Wednesday.
Let's take this logic and apply it to Canada...
Let's start blowing up Canada until they send troops to Iraq. /s

Oh well, they need to get with the program. It doesn't feel to good to be so insulted, does it?
To: Trust but Verify
Who should get with what program?
In the context of your earlier post & my subsequent response to same, this latest comment makes no sense whatsoever.

Canadians should learn to appreciate what we bring to the continent instead of always siding with terrorists and the sissy French.
To: Trust but Verify
Sweeping generalizations, apparently founded upon ignorance, are literally impossible to answer.
However, the xenophobic siege mentality which renders a small minority of American conservatives incapable of discerning their nation's friends from its enemies is, by definition, contrary to her best interests.
Why let the facts get in the way when you can prattle on about Canadians "always siding with terrorists" rather than acknowledge the veracity of the statement contained in my post #147 that Canada is in reality "... a partner in the war on terror whose troops in Afghanistan have disposed of over 300 Taliban vermin over just the past week alone."
Plainly, you don't trust precisely because you don't verify.

Then please explain these polls that show very large majorities blaming OUR policies for what happened on 9/11. That was the biggest attack, but it wasn't the first, it wasn't the lst. These terrorists are attacking innocent people WORLDWIDE. Do Canadians know this? Is it Bali's foreign policy that brought on the attacks there? How about the attacks in Egypt?

Like most conservatives, I don't generally believe or trust msm polling.
Over & over again, we see the media manipulating both the overall methodology & the specific wording of questions asked in order to obtain a desired preordained agenda-favorable outcome.
Strangely, some American conservatives who no doubt quite rightly don't trust their own msm as far as they can spit, seem to somehow accept similar biased crap from Canada's even worse ultra-liberal media as virtual gospel.
While Canada may well be overall a tad to the left of America in opinions & attitudes, similar urban/non-urban as well as geographically-based ideological divides exist up here just as it they do Stateside.
I've often said Canada as a whole is somewhat like New York State:
once you get past the urban areas, it's chockablock full of decent 'normal' people.

Same holds true for the European media . . . but I'll go one step farther: some of those deservedly sceptical conservatives on this website don't realize that they are being played like fiddles.
To: GMMAC
I'm sure there are a lot of great Canadians. If just seems to me that there is not a lot of difference between attitudes there and in Europe. I find the majority of Europeans repugnant.
To: Trust but Verify
I believe you're minimizing, among other things, the blood ties which exist between our nations in the person of the countless families with branches on both sides of the border.
Incidentally, I just posted an article
here which starts slowly but ultimately speaks fairly well to most of the points raised in your post #155.

Thanks.
... and I'd add that many also fail to appreciate that Canada has roughly only 1/10 of America's population but spread out over a much larger geographic area.
Accordingly, 'local' stories become 'national' ones up here far more readily.
Due to the overall respective volumes of 'news' in each nation, a lot of outrageous leftist crap that in America would likely at most receive State-wide attention, in Canada gets trumpeted from one end of the country to the other if it happens to promote our msm's agenda.
