Boston, MA (LifeNews.com) -- Haleigh Poutre was the victim of child abuse and was nearly killed via euthanasia when Massachusetts officials gave up on her after she entered a coma. Now Poutre, once termed "brain dead" by doctors, continues to improve and is speaking a few words, her grandmother says.
Sandra Sudyka, the girl's biological grandmother, is no longer allowed to visit her granddaughter and now says she is ready to speak to the media about Poutre's condition.
She told The Republican newspaper that she last saw Poutre on July 18 but indicated she was "doing well."
"She was bright-eyed and smiling. She is always responsive to us," Sudyka explained.
Department of Social Services had asked Sudyka not to talk with reporters about Haleigh, but since they will no longer allow her and Haleigh's biological mother, Allison Avrett, to visit the 12 year-old, she said she's going to talk to the media.
"I decided since they broke the deal, I am going to talk. People should know how well she is doing," Sudyka told the newspaper.
"They don't want people to know how she is doing after they wanted to pull the plug," Sudyka said.
DSS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro declined an interview with The Republican but said that the visiting privileges have been suspended, not terminated.
Haleigh first began speaking in June, her grandmother told the newspaper.
"I was saying to her 'I love you,' and she was trying to say 'love' and it came out as a vibration...'ove,'" Sudyka said.
Sudyka, who is working with an attorney to adopt the girl, said she has said hello, responds to comments and questions, speaks nonverbally and is able to write her name. Haleigh can't walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
Avrett, Poutre's biological mother, lost custody of her daughter after physically abusing her. Poutre was put into a foster home where her adoptive parents also abused her. Her adopted mother committed suicide after abusing Poutre so much she had to be hospitalized.
DSS took Poutre into custody and when she appeared to slip into a coma, the agency asked the state Supreme Court for permission to take her life. That's when Poutre began responding.
Poutre has been receiving physical, speech and occupational therapy since January 26 at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton.
Gov. Mitt Romney appointed a commission to look into how the state failed to properly handle the girl's case.
It is Terri's supporters who will not rest. Her story will touch good hearts long after her detractors are gone.
We have in our nature an insatiable thirst for justice. We simply do not forget great injustices. We still talk about Cain slaying Abel! The injustice to Terri will be remembered as long as our civilization tells its revered stories. Those who chide us to "let it rest" or "move on" might as well sweep back the tide with a broom.

She had a connection with her daughter few understood but for those who viewed Mary Schindler interacting with Terri Schiavo the obvious was an "emotional dagger to the heart." Pamela Hennessy writes a griping article about one mother's love for her daughter and the belittling she underwent by so-called right-to-die activists who were accepted by the court as unbiased medical experts. Mrs. Schindler asked, "What harm could it do to just allow new tests?" The courts and Terri's husband said, "No!" According to a report, published September 7, 2006, a 23 year-old woman, previously diagnosed PVS, produced remarkable fMRI results when asked to imagine a game of tennis and walking around her home. The measured responses were found to be consistent with the responses of volunteers with no brain injuries or neurological insults.
Now, BBC is reporting of an extraordinary development in assessing the clinical diagnosis of persistent vegetative state.

Keep Professor Singer away from her!
............
A group of pro-life individuals and disability proponents plan to protest a Dr. Peter Singer speaking event tonight at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. According to group organizer Pamela Hennessy (ForEthics): WorldNetDaily today reports on comments Singer made to a series of questions reported in the UK Independent. "Would you kill a disabled baby?" he was asked.Singer promotes euthanisation and infanticide of disabled and ailing persons. Has called them 'unpersons' and 'nonpersons'. He is an absolute threat to those amongst us who deal with physical and neurological challenges because he promotes a strong bigotry against those who may not be able to do for themselves.
Singers views on killing newborns are particularly notorious and based upon his utilitarian view of ethics theory, which promotes decisions that would maximize the amount of happiness for the greatest number of people.

Protest Called Against Euthanasia Extremist

"Anti-euthanasia position"?!? Would that be like, "Thou shalt not kill?"
Ahhh, but "anti-euthanasia position" sounds so, uhhh, gentle and foggy, not like those blunt hurtful points called Commandments.
Cranford was pitching it. The courts are not in the business of agreeing with medical diagnoses, and would not be competent to do so. I think what we really have here is Dr. Humane Death boasting about killing eight people.
And we are here to put the sharp edge back on. As C. S. Lewis observed, "There is nothing indulgent about the Moral Law. It is as hard as nails...If God is like the Moral Law, then He is not soft."
Why that's like saying there are absolutes like good and bad rather than mush inbetween.
Well, Ellen Badwoman considers herself a judge over scientific findings. That is the wonder of libs, their ability to supercede facts and logic to conquer reason.
In that building behind me my daughter is starving to death... We laugh together. We cry together. We smile together. We talk together... Please, please, please, save my little girl.
I don't remember any biblical instruction to consider all the shades of gray, do you? I can't think of a single book in the Bible about moral relativism. And those were the Ten Commandments, not the Ten Usually Viable Options. Never once did Jesus say, "Well, now, slow down on that, there are two sides to every question and we can't be so judgmental."
Just as well. If you don't speak of moral absolutes, you will be forgotten tomorrow, like today's New York Times.
However, Bay News reported last evening that charges of a moonbat assaulting a guy which were filed by Clearwater PD were dismissed by State Attorney Bernie McCabe who has dominion over Pinellas County. I bet the Clearwater PD were just thrilled that McCabe acted as judge and jury dismissing the charges against the moonbat.
We don't need no judges here. Bernie has dominion. That's Bernie, the fixer.
THE END IS GREER. (Crist's hero). They'll all fall down....
The commercial was in violation in many ways. The commercial is an indictment of the Sheriff, the State Attorney McCabe, of Judge Greer and worst of all, the deception throughout the commercial led to the death of an innocent woman, TERRI SCHIAVO.
Greer's commercial had deadly consequences. It is alleged that Sheriff Rice (Michael Schiavo's boss) FUNDED PART OF THE TV SPOT. Clearly, a violation by the Sheriff and Judge Greer. But, when you think the world is your oyster and that you will never be caught, what the hey?????
The tv commercial has been on the internet for two years now. The commercial speaks for itself. Terri was set up by deceptive advertising. The ad failed to mention Greer was a probate/guardianship judge. A guardianship judge isn't supposed to be tough!
I have a photo of the end of Greer:
No, that's his face.
FV, why should anyone go to Florida? http://www.wcax.com/Global/story.asp?S=5412219&nav=4QcS Former N.H. man found dead in Florida. "After two weeks in a medically induced coma, family members decided to take him off life support." Wow, I didn't know they could bring people back from the dead, by putting them in a coma.
