I think he'll have a radio gig in no time at all.
no worries my friend - just a little bit of a wait!

I remember last year Loftus saying our invasion of Syria was imminent, and JB going along with that.

I remember Loftus's announcing Saddam Hussein's death by U.S. bombing --twice.

Lotus was a loon, wrong at least as often as he was right. Even worse were the aforementioned Katrina vanden Heuvel and the insufferable pompous academic, Michael Vlahos. Batchelor sucked up to both shamelessly.

Best guests were Victor Davis Hanson and the retired generals, Thomas McInerney and Paul Vallely.

Come to think of it, I haven't heard McInerney or Vallely much on the show lately. Wonder if they were turned off by Batchelor's turning tail on Iraq.

Yes, I'll miss the Batchelor show, but I won't miss Batchelor.

John B. made it quite clear that he was taking a fall hiatus and would be back with the Hoover Institute. I assume that his web page will announce something later.

I didn't agree with him on all things, but he was the one I went to on anything Middle East. What a shame.

I suspect that the only reason Sean invites Ann Coulter on his TV show is to boost ratings. This last visit was a disaster. Ann was treated like dirt and Sean just let it happen.

Here I am, an old lady with insomia and I have to listen to the sports station during the night. Bash A Rod, bash A Rod.....tee hee......at least it puts me to sleep pretty quickly.

I remember when we were all going to die from Sars.

Then it was bird flu.

Then India and Pakistan were about to drop nukes on each other. I think JB broadcast his show from an old WW 2 bomb shelter that night.

Poor guy, what must it be like to be such an hysterical doom and gloomer.

I don't think it was content related. If he were drawing the "numbers" in the target demographics, he'd still be on.

Limbaugh, Levin, Hannity and a whole host of others are vociferous defenders of Israel, and suffer no such consequences.

I think his show was just too cerebral and nuanced to appeal to a wide audience.

It's a shame, but once you get past the quick sound-bite or bumper sticker slogan you lose 3/4 of today's public, if not more.

Unfortunately it's easier for the masses to focus on worthless pabulum like the Ramsey case or the Holloway case, both of which matter not one whit to their everyday lives, than it is to pay scant attention to world events that will shape their lives for decades to come.

The Romans had "bread and circuses". We have Greta Van Susteren and Jerry Springer.

"Poor demos" mean "poor demographics". I.e., too many old people listening.

If you just look at the number of stations he's on, I think it's only WABC and WMAL that are major stations that air him undelayed. So, whatever the cause, other stations just don't see the benefit of having him on.

Considering how late his show is on, you'd think that the numbers wouldn't matter much at all.

My favourite radio show... gone! Who am I going to listen to going to bed now?

Lets hope he does get back on the air soon.

Great stuff on the war on terror and he always throws in a bit of decent science discussion every now and again, particularly about the latest astronomical and evolutionary work.

Hurry back John!

That's true. I do the same now, but Steve had a terrific show, didn't he.

It is a fact people love a good story teller or the warm cozy fireside chats.

John Batchelor was unique in that area along with the ambiance of the lovely music he would use.

lately it seems that kind of music has been missing.

He seem to have themes when he was talking to certain regulars guess come on with their reports.

I bet the powers to be cut John budget.

John would also engage the fringe groups that would hit Bloomberg or Giuliani.

I found it unpleasant when he hit those areas and he might be right on some level but I think some of those people went over board.

It is still no reason to pull his show he has so many other good things he brought to the table!

Maybe they were afraid the younger folks might get some history and than it would not be so easy to control their minds with the 30 sec sound bites.

****

I find Laura Ingraham interesting but many times it is too sophomoric, it takes on a frat party atmosphere it becomes to flipped always trying to one up em.

Humor is necessary but animal house jocular should stay in the dorm rooms

Steve was the best. He really felt like family. I get on the air with him late at night and we'd have a real conversation. He would actually listen and cared about the topic. We even emailed back and forth a few times after he left WABC.

I can't forget how kind he was to Candy. He has a special place in my heart for those kind deeds.

I'll miss him. I used to listen to him while taking my son to work and while driving home.

John was ahead of the curve on some developments. He also stressed the international side of issues, which I found informative.

I enjoyed his talks with Larry Kudlow and Claudia Rosett (UN Oil for food scandal journalist).

Back when John Batchelor first appeared on WABC's airwaves, his on-air partner was Paul Alexander. I could be wrong here, but I understood that Batchelor was the conservative, Alexander the liberal...

So WABC dropped Batchelor's show? That's a shame. Any idea where Batchelor will turn up next? His website says "The John Batchelor Show will be on hiatus until further notice, to return probably in late fall of 2006." No mention of WABC though. I'm confused... where will his next show return to?
