WE'RE RELUCTANT to return to the subject of former CIA employee Valerie Plame because of our oft-stated belief that far too much attention and debate in Washington has been devoted to her story and that of her husband, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, over the past three years. But all those who have opined on this affair ought to take note of the not-so-surprising disclosure that the primary source of the newspaper column in which Ms. Plame's cover as an agent was purportedly blown in 2003 was former deputy secretary of state Richard L. Armitage.

Where's the OUTRAGE about Armitage and Powell letting people go thru the Legal GRINDER and possible PRISON and spending THOUSANDs of dollars and losing their jobs??/ Where's the OUTRAGE???? Powell, Armitage et al should be SHUNNED by decet people for allowing this to happen!! They are supposed to be great men...POOEY!
Vey hard to believe this coming from the Post. It is possible that the Post, always slightly less leftwing than the NY Times, sees the danger for the democrats in its march towards the moonbatosphere.
I'm also waiting for the Washington post to point out that this undermines a key tenet of the "Bush lied" crowd (that the State of the Union speech Iraq-uranium link was all made up). Joe Wilson was lying,there really were inquiries by Hussein, so it wasn't made up by POTUS after all ...guess I may have to wait for a while. I hope the administration does some of this for them, and repeatedly. The repetition by the media of misinformation, as has been done in this case, can NOT be undone by a single press conference or a couple of speeches, nor just by bloggers and radio hosts. (The people they reach already knew this). It needs to be laid out repeatedly so that Joe Sixpack hears it. But I'm afraid that the Bush administration seems to not recognize this.

The indictment of the left by Cheney, Bush and Rummy these last few days has been devastating. The administration knows that timing is key. I don't have a problem with how the administration is handling this. My problem is that the Senate demonrats have been spouting off non-stop, and the GOP congresscritters don't fight back. The administration should not be bogged down with answering the shrieks from the Pelosi's of the world. That is the job of her GOP colleagues in the congress.
I think the Post was in a unique postion relative to the rest of the MSM on the "Plame Affair" in that Bob Woodward said early-on that this was no big deal. Woodward had this story nailed back then. Where was the Post to go with it when their chief investigative reporter rips the rug out from under them?
Not a very honorable thing for Powell, a former military man, to have done. At the very least he could have fired Armitage (instead of letting him retire) and let everybody draw their own conclusions. Of course Powell was a politician even when he wore stars.

You are so right about this. That is what I have been missing - the outrage from our GOP members over the "destroy Bush" agenda.
In addition to NOT PUTTING OUR AGENDA IN PLACE, THEY DO NOT EVEN STAND UP FOR THIS ADMINISTRATION.
I have been grossly disappointed in our congress members - not a fighter in the group. There should be a solid "band of brothers" there that speak out forcibly against the democratic lies.
Without that - the media left is free to change history and news at will.
And they abandon their Commander-in Chief during a time of war even joining in with their "esteemed friends".
There should be mass firings and resignations throughout the MSM over this. Instead of digging out the truth, the acted as de facto arms of the DNC, building and spreading myths.

I nearly snorted coffee out of my nose when I read this this morning. All I could think of was Roseanne Roseannadanna saying, "Umm, nevermind." The final paragraph was priceless.
The rest of the article is good but this paragraph is BS as you say. They can't just let it go without putting in a dig.
Wow, the Post is "reluctant" to return to the subject of Plame because they think too much attention has been diverted towards her? While I agree, the Posts website has referenced Plame in over 3,000 articles over the past 3 years, so I guess this "one" article will make up for that.
