Most Americans Agree with Evolution [new poll]
Angus Reid Consultants ^ | 01 September 2006 | Staff

Posted on 08/31/2006 7:42:01 PM PDT by PatrickHenry

More adults in the United States believe the theory of evolution is correct, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. 51 per cent of respondents think that humans and other living things evolved over time, while 42 per cent say they existed in their present form since the beginning of time.

Charles Darwin’s "The Origin of Species" was first published in 1859. The book details the British naturalist’s theory that all organisms gradually evolve through the process of natural selection. Darwin’s views were antagonistic to creationism, the belief that a more powerful being or a deity created life.

In the United States, the debate on the topic accelerated after the 1925 Scopes trial, which tested a law that banned the teaching of evolution in Tennessee public schools. In 2004, Georgia’s Cobb County was at the centre of a controversy on whether science textbooks that explain evolutionary theory should include disclaimer stickers.

The theory of intelligent design suggests certain biological mechanisms are too complex to have developed without the involvement of a powerful force or intelligent being.

Last month, Austrian cardinal Christoph Schoenborn said the two views are not necessarily incompatible, declaring, "There is no conflict between science and religion, but a debate between a materialist interpretation of the results of science and a metaphysical philosophical interpretation. (...) The possibility that the Creator used evolution as a tool is completely acceptable for the Catholic faith."

I have never posted any image of dogs defecating. I linked to their 'avatar' image and they modified it after the fact. I can prove this later.

Most likely you know this, but in what looks to be typical evo fashion, you want to disguise and distort the issue. Here is one source url for those images. As you see it is from darwincentral.org/images/avatars

What did you think the tree of life was? An apple? It is the exchange of the seed of man to have the ability to create life.

Who told you THAT?

NIV Genesis 1:26-28
 26.  Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
 27.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
 28.  God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Uh... it's hard to do this without sexual relations.

NIV Genesis 2:7-9
 7.  the LORD God formed the man  from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
 8.  Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
 9.  And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground--trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

NIV Genesis 2:15-17
 15.  The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
 16.  And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
 17.  but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Sorry, but they were excluded from only ONE tree before they sinned.  They were free to eat of the life tree.

NIV Genesis 3:24
After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

But even Jesus had to clarify the old testament to modern day geniuses.

And to Satan...

I linked to their 'avatar' image and they modified it after the fact.

The lesson is that you take risks when you post a link that you have no control over the content thereof.

The percentage of scientists in all fields who agree with evolution is around 95%

The percentage of scientists who are positive atheists is 72 percent.

I think their religious views might be guiding their academic views.

"Sorry, but they were excluded from only ONE tree before they sinned. They were free to eat of the life tree."

Yeah, but which one was more appealing to man at the time?
The ability to learn through science, relationships, to ponder who God is, where He came from, whether He created the universe or did some finches do it on some island, or, the latter, to live long in oblivious joy? Man chose the former. Thus, because of satan's pushing towards carnality. the woman would become pregnant and have great birth pains.

Uh... didn't I just post that in #295?

Uh... I read your post #295 twice and don't see anything about the "sons of God" and the daughters of men.

True, but in this case they had to modify an image they had chosen as their own 'avatar' to accomplish this.

That says something to me.

BTW I still have the originals so maybe I will just upload them them to put it all to rest since the evos will never own up to it, they never do you know.

But [Newton] was a heretic, not that there's anything wrong with that. I am too.

Well, if that is so, then I'm just glad for the excellent company.... :^)

Leibniz for one suspected Newton of pantheism. But I gather he just misunderstood what Newton was saying (in his Optiks and the Scholium Generale that he added to his masterwork Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica in 1713). It's pretty clear to me, though -- FWIW.

Leaning towards Deism, are we? Well. It's a start.

Newton was in fact an Arian. He denied the divinity of Christ.

Please HayekRocks: Give me a source for that?

Could you/would you direct me to a source for reading Newton's Biblical speculations? ... I'm rather interested in reading those.

Sons of Adam were Cain, Abel, and Seth, but these boys were born after God breathed His Life into Adam, so these boys are in a fashion sons of God. The daughters of men were the females existing prior to Adam's transformation from nephesh to a neshama. Scripture aslo says that after Seth to Adam were born sons and daughters ... it doesn't say to Adam and Eve. If`that`helps ...

Gladly, dear lady. The view he was Arian is not completely uncontroversial, but is held by the large majority of Newtonian scholars. Interestingly, much of the evidence for this was discovered by John Maynard Keynes, the economist, who acquired and studied Newton's private papers. The first link is the lecture Keynes prepared on Newton's tercentenary, one of the most remarkable lectures never given.

You should take responsibility for the content of your own posts. It is the conservative thing to do.

I do, and I will correct their alterations in a manner they cant tamper with. For you I will bring it here as the original versions, hopefully with accurate time stamps to further expose their subsequent alterations.

Thanks for helping me to put some light on those sort of 'evo tactics'

I went back and looked the post history, IMO if GuitarGuy could have taken it as well as he dished it out, and just stayed with crapping on 'ol wolf' he would probably still be around.

But no! that was not enough.

Actually when he was not at 130% obnoxious he was not that bad. He should have stayed out of obnoxious afterburner.
