Carter F'd Iran up to begin with. Can't he leave the whole thing alone?

By the way, when did Carter convert to Islam?

Maybe Jimmy'll convert to Islam while they're here to make them feel totally welcome. That would be the Christian thing to do.

Why is Khatami being allowed to visit?

He should be denied a visa.

If Carter wants to kiss his ass, he can go to Iran.

And stay there.

Here we go again... the biggest fool in American diplomacy is off to try to screw the things up again. He will try to appease these lunatics.

There should be a rule against ex-presidents meddling into international diplomacy after they leave the office...

George Will was right again:

Jimmy Carter actually is an even worse former-president than he was a president!

And that's really saying something.

Um, FORMER president.

He's just another overpaid retired American citizen now, he has no more standing to hold these talks than I do.

Somebody PLEASE tell him to sit down STFU!

Whatever pronouncement comes out of Ol' Peanut's mouth after his meeting with Khatami is going to be a humdinger.

He believes that it is much better to be talking to people who you have problems with than not to...

That might be true in some cases, but I'd rather they didn't talk with a socialist idiot like yourself, Mr. Carter.

It was once upon a time that U.S. presidents displayed the daily prestige and cognizance of the office of president not only when in it, but also out of it. Principally, criticism of current occupants of the White House was most often relayed privately, and was rarely seen on the op-ed pages of any major news organs. Sadly, former President Carter has deferred to pageantry instead of principle, an apt conclusion for a man whose presidency was more caricature than commanding.

Carter pines for that those days of malaise, double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, double digit unemployment, fuel lines, 55 mph speed limits, 59 degree thermostat settings, sweaters, "Billy Beer", and ABBA.

You people complaining about this are nuts! (pun intended)

Let's see, Iran's prez comes to the USA and the most revered democrat ex-president hosts him, will be seen smiling that big ol' smile of his with him, and we will all have such happy memories of when the dems were in charge of things...right as we get into election season.

Karl Rove has slipped a microchip into Jimmuh's oat bran and even now is cackling as he works the controls!

He'll be in violation of his own concession to Iran in 1981:

Well, sort of.....

Point I: Non-Intervention in Iranian Affairs
1. The United States pledges that it is and from now on will be the policy of the United
States not to intervene, directly or indirectly, politically or militarily, in Iran's internal affairs.
