For an event that would turn a page in American history, former president Jimmy Carter has agreed in principle to host former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami for talks during his visit to the United States starting this week.
Carter's term as president was dominated by the rupture in relations after the 1979 Iranian revolution and the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, where 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days until the day he left office.
Iranians made the overture for the meeting, and the Carter Center in Atlanta is working on the possible timing, said Phil Wise, the former president's aide.
"President Carter, in his role since leaving the White House, has made his office and services and center available to basically anybody who wants to talk. He believes that it is much better to be talking to people who you have problems with than not to, and that's the approach he takes now," Wise said. "I can confirm that President Carter is open to a meeting if the former president of Iran would like to have one."
Despite mounting tensions between Washington and Tehran over the latter's nuclear program, the Bush administration issued a visa for Khatami yesterday, as well as for about a dozen family and staff members, for a visit lasting about two weeks, the State Department confirmed. Khatami is expected to arrive in the United States tomorrow.

The Administration needs to come right and and categorically state that Carter does NOT speak for the US Government. Ex-President or Not, someone need to embarass his sorry, senile, liberal a$$ back into its hidey-hole.

I wonder if that that photo was taken on an odd or even day?

Maybe Khatami can do us a favor and take him hostage. Or course, Iran would have to pay us to take him back.

Ensuring the continuance of his hate-America-first organization. Or maybe it's more Roslyn's little day-club, I've read freeper comments that assert it's really Roslyn that's the moonbat leftist driving force in that family.
From that article you linked:
Center staff have worked at combatting disease in Africa and South America, monitoring elections in nations with emerging democracies assisting in the insertion of leftist dictators amidst highly questionable election practices....
Much more accurate.

Carter likes singing kumbya with all of the world's despots and tyrants. I am sure if he was old enough at the time, he would have done that with Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo.
Carter is simply a traitor like the Clintons.

Not only the stupid 55 mph speed limit but Joan Claybrook of NHTSA, 85 mph speedometers. I distinctly remembered being told in school by teachers who were Carter supporters that it is time for the American Standard of living to come down. We were told at the time that we were not going to have it as good as our parents had.
I remembered when Reagan came into office and basically said, bullsh*t to Carter's socialism. I remembered the day after the election when Reagan won. One school teacher in particular was very upset at Reagan's landslide victory.
Carter pines for that those days of malaise, double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, double digit unemployment, fuel lines, 55 mph speed limits, 59 degree thermostat settings, sweaters, "Billy Beer", and ABBA.

I thought this was going to be a joke when I read the headline. He's such a POS that I don't even have words.
BTW, my sister dreamed the other night that inflation was 300% and when she told me about it she said "Carter must have been president." LOL

I glad our government let Khatami in. Far cry from what the biggest piece of human garbage, Jimmy Carter, did to Pahlevi.
As I have said previously Jimmy Carter's carcass should be swinging from a tree somewhere in the United States, the country he continues to betray (Along with his "Christianity").

If Carter ssigns an agreement that we will get out of the M.E. next month, does that mean we have to do it? Will the MSM be calling for impeachment if Bush does not adhere to Carter's deal?

Carter is PERSONALLY responsible for the mess in Iran why else would he not want to PROTECT IRAN.
Carter will come out of this with a "carter plan" to allow Iran to have nuclear power and then allow for faux un monitoring.
Remember carter is a nuclear engineer, he thinks he knows it all.
