Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.
The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.
However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

Great job tonight, kiddo!
Leaning on kitchen entry...Nnniiccce one!
Yes it is. I'm glad that photo popped up on Yahoo--it made the Photo of the Day an easy choice.
Jonny! You're subbing today. Thank you so much and I look forward to the thread.
Good to see ya!
"A year ago, I made a pledge that we will learn the lessons of Katrina and that we will do what it takes to help you recover. We looked at what went right and what went wrong, and we're addressing that which went wrong." The people of the Gulf Coast can know that at the federal level, and at the state level, and at the local level... we're better prepared."
I complained a few weeks ago that the President had forgotten us(Mississippi), I was wrong, I admit it.Again I thank you Mr.President for keeping the promise you made. I disagree on some policies you have, but I can not dispute your integrity and honour.
You again have given faith to one that has little faith in anything.
I agree! Especially this one:
It does my heart to see our president praying, and to know that it's real because he has a relationship with the Lord.
Aw don't be embarrassed by the Vikings. Our Carolina Panthers used to be the worst team in the NFL :)
Howdy :)
Yes indeed that one was the one I was refering to! Zactly!
;OD
LMAO!
Anyone know where Laura went?
Jonny, it's so cool the Saints wanted a team photo with him. Usually only the Super Bowl winner gets a team photo with the prez. (I like pro football; am a Cowboys fan.)
You're welcome :) I agree, its great to see General Honore again. I think he gave the press what-for again today ;)
Hi, Gretchen! In before I pinged you :)
Although I don't know specifically where she went, the First Lady has been doing a lot of campaigning for Republican candidates. Usually she will combine attendance at some type of civic event related to the causes she supports (youth, schools, libraries, reading, etc.) with a later, separate campaign rally for the candidate.
I know, I know ... just be glad I didn't post more pics of School Bus Nagin ;)
