Two people were seen on surveillance tapes cutting through a fence and climbing atop the storage tank at a liquefied natural gas storage facility in Lynn last week, and while it does not appear to be an act of terrorism, authorities are calling for a full-scale investigation.
Authorities were especially displeased with the five-day lag between the Aug. 16 security breach and when KeySpan Corp. reported it to the state on Monday, said Mike Coelho, chief of staff of the state Executive Office of Public Safety. ``That's less than ideal, that kind of reporting turnaround," he said. ``We're not happy about it."
US Representative Edward J. Markey, a Democrat and a senior member of the House Homeland Security and Energy and Commerce Committees, called on Governor Mitt Romney's administration to ``order a comprehensive review of the perimeter security plans at all such critical infrastructure facilities in the Commonwealth to guarantee a future security breach does not occur."
Markey also said the ``incident raises serious questions about the adequacy of the perimeter security and surveillance monitoring in place at this facility."

It should be mentioned that Lynn is in massachuttes, the state from which terrorists boarded air craft fo the 9/11 missions, and the state with no security by popular demand.
The lax security mentality will get us all killed.

I spoke to someone who works at a LNG plant at length (prospective client). He said that LNG would be exceedingly hard to detonate. The tanks are hardened against explosions and large aircraft strikes and the LNG itself is kept as a super cold slurry. It would have to be vaporized and then ignighted. I'm no expert, but, having a LNG facility about two mile from my house... makes me feel a bit better.
Is the Lynn plant the one in Boston Harbor?

I am not sure of the plant location...but a tanker truck of gasoline driving into the plant would make me a little nervous.

No, the ones in Boston Harbor are in South Boston/Quincy and Charlsetown/Chelsea.

>>>No arrests have been made.<<<
Utter and total PC BS crap. Why is there no description of the suspects in this faux news article? Is this the best that reporter,MELISSA TRUJILLO, ASSOCIATED PRESS via BOSTON GLOBE can do? The authorities have the tape, so what do the "suspects" look like? Why aren't their pictures being flashed on every MA TV station as a BOTLO?
LNG is a fearsome issue, anyway. All it takes is a small amount of research to understand this volatile(pun) and divisive form of energy. Terrorists don't need much more than a lit cigarette; Merchant Mariners have know about this for years. There is a death match debate going on in Fall River, MA right now about this, and the "ostrich faction" is winning. Happyheads who think the WOT is in Iraq.
Let's see the video footage, let's see these two suspects.
If racial profiling is an issue here, then let's see a show of hands for people willing to risk their lives, and the lives of their children, in the name of "multiculturalism".

Shaped charge in the right place would puncture the vessel. Additional charges to weaken to pressure vessel. Tertiary charges to ignite the vapour cloud.
Serious BLEVE / FAE.
Sadly, it's very possible. Once compromised, there's no stopping the leak.
The poster who lives 2 miles away would have a FRONT ROW seat for the event's pressure wave. Yikers.

It's not really Boston Harbor. It's in Everett on the Mystic River. They pull in by where my friends live in East Boston, spin them around and back them underneath the Tobin Bridge. One got away once while I was there and it was about 50 yards offshore from the Eastshore Plaza Housing Facility. It had four tugs working frantically to keep it from running aground. as the water is very shallow there. I was on the balcony. Those things are huge.

BTW, what are the odds the rent-a-cops there are sufficently armed to stop/repel a sapper team???
Oh, they will call the police who will (eventually) respond with one guy in a B/W.
LNG tanks represent the world's largest ready-made FAE bombs in-situ if attacked correctly.
