ADL Blasts Christian Supremacist TV Special & Book Blaming Darwin For Hitler

New York, NY, August 22, 2006 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today blasted a television documentary produced by Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries that attempts to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust. ADL also denounced Coral Ridge Ministries for misleading Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute for the NIH, and wrongfully using him as part of its twisted documentary, "Darwin's Deadly Legacy."

After being contacted by the ADL about his name being used to promote Kennedy's project, Dr. Collins said he is "absolutely appalled by what Coral Ridge Ministries is doing. I had NO knowledge that Coral Ridge Ministries was planning a TV special on Darwin and Hitler, and I find the thesis of Dr. Kennedy's program utterly misguided and inflammatory," he told ADL.

ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said in a statement:"This is an outrageous and shoddy attempt by D. James Kennedy to trivialize the horrors of the Holocaust. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis.

"It must be remembered that D. James Kennedy is a leader among the distinct group of 'Christian Supremacists' who seek to "reclaim America for Christ" and turn the U.S. into a Christian nation guided by their strange notions of biblical law."

The documentary is scheduled to air this weekend along with the publication of an accompanying book "Evolution's Fatal Fruit: How Darwin's Tree of Life Brought Death to Millions."

A Coral Ridge Ministries press release promoting the documentary says the program "features 14 scholars, scientists, and authors who outline the grim consequences of Darwin's theory of evolution and show how his theory fueled Hitler's ovens."

Lighten up, Francine. I was joking about the reference to Cthulhu made by obb. No one was poking fun at Jews or Christians, or even Zoroastrians, for that matter.

Man, talk about "victimology."

Interestingly, Lovecraft was both an atheist and an anti-Semite--kinda like Revilo P. Oliver, Sam Francis, "Tex-oma," etc. And you thought all anti-Semitism was caused by Genesis! Wonder where Alfred Rosenberg (mach shemo!) ever got the idea that no idea was more abhorrent to the "aryan" mind than the "magical creation of the world from nothing," when every evolutionist on this thread has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that Nazism was caused by the Hebrew Bible?

But tell the truth, you would never have taken the liberty had you known the language was Hebrew, would you? You thought it was Ancient Redneck, didn't you?

re 15: Christianity was not a foundation of Nazi ideology at all. The Nazi's thought Christianity was soft and they despised it's teachings. The Nazi's were a combination of Atheists and Pagans. Germany was well into it's post-Christian phase by the time the Nazi's came to power.

For 3 sentences to contain so much stupidity, this has to win a prize. Christian churches--both Catholic and Lutheran--readily embraced the National Socialist government.

Zionist Conspirator always spells "chr*stians".

rather like me spelling "D*m*cr*ts" and "B*ll Cl*nt*n"

Sounds like a good idea to me!

I would recommend you re-read your own posts. Start with past threads.

Have anything in mind? Again, I don't feel that I have an anti-Christian bias, but if you've detected one, please let me know where. Otherwise, it seems you're just hurling silly slurs in my direction.

"Where are your ancestors buried?'

Scattered across three counties in NC; they were associated with either Westfield Meeting in modern-day Stokes County, or Cane Creek Meeting in modern-day Randolph County. Most of them died and were buried in Virginia, though. My 4g grandmother was a Reddick. We assume it was her influence behind the fact that my 4g grandfather had no slaves. His father had ten, and one of his brothers, 56. There were Quakers, and Quaker influence, in both my maternal and paternal lines, but none of my relatives today are Quaker. The last one died sometime between 1860 and 1870, or so we assume, as this comes from Census data. Record keeping blew all to heck from the Civil War right through Reconstruction, and the Census is often all there is.

Prior to the ACLU's meddlesome (and destructive) activities in our society, virtually all elementary students were subjected to bible study in schools

I know. And what I'm saying is that subjecting elementary students to bible study is inherently proselytizing. You may not mind, but parents of Jewish kids do mind and for obvious reasons. I would hope you'd be sympathetic to that.

Further, many of the most prestigious colleges you are familiar with today (including Harvard and Yale ) were started as Christian schools.

And many prestigious colleges remain Christian schools. I have no problem with private, Christian schools or universities. Students can choose to attend them if they wish. But that's very different from teaching Jewish kids your religion at public elementary schools, where they really don't have a choice.

Just curious as to why you anti-Christians participate in a conservative forum like FR, given that most of your ilk are not conservatives. You are usually liberals or libertarians, not conservatives.

You wouldn’t be a DU troll trying to stir up division within conservative ranks, would you?

The websites that you reference do not explain how the theory of evolution naturally leads to actions such as those commited by Hitler.

Most mammals have a definite morality set including self sacrifice.

Actually some social insects will also self sacrifice for the colony.

So are bacterium who do not self sacrifice or otherwise have morals that I can tell, are bacterium not created by God because they have no morals ?

Re 153: The Rev Dr. Kennedy is one of the finest and most intellectually decent people I have ever had the pleasure to hear.

Kennedy is a crafty self-promoter who has gained a lavish life-style by preaching. He gets an estimated $50 million a year by promising one-way tickets to heaven--a promise than he cannot keep.

aren't (according to evolution) any actions committed by humans "natural"?

is morality independant of evolution? if so what is its source?

There is no question that Christianity had a powerful influence on Nazi thinking as well.

Are we thinking of the same Nazis? The Nazis who tried to replace Christianity? The ones who tried to phase it out by pushing out a modified Bible to churches? The ones who, in the SS, replaced Christian ceremonies (i.e. baptism and communion) with Nazi abominations? The ones who persecuted Christians (yes, even to the point of sending some to concentration camps)?

Nazism was a direct assault on Christianity, not an offshoot.

you comments will always be irrelevant

if mammals show immoral behavior, does that mean god did not create them.

if mammals do show moral behavior, does that mean that behavior "evolved" via evolution

either way, you creationist beliefs are toast.

In keeping with the teachings of Islam, Muslim extremists are monists, i.e., they believe that the universe is made of one substance. Atheists are also monists. Can we then link Islamic terrorists to Ayn Rand? The Ba'athist movement, one of the principal elements in radical Islam, was influenced by Marxism in its beginning years. Does that make Muslim extremists Marxists?

None of these analogies are any more valid than your attempt to link evangelical and fundamentalist Christians with Muslim extremists on the basis of creationism.

>>>I don't feel that I have an anti-Christian bias, but if you've detected one, please let me know where.<<<

You have definitely demonstrated an anti-Christian bias, with an emphasis on mockery. If you deny that I will be glad to provide some of your posts demonstrating your mockery.

Surprisingly, no Christian mocks Jews. Jesus was a Jew, as were all his original disciples and apostles; so mocking Jews would be akin to mocking Christ. Further, when Christ returns he will seal as his servants 12,000 from each tribe of Israel. It would be foolish for a Christian to mock a Jew who might become become a sealed servant of Christ.

However, all Christians abhor false Jews: those who claim to be Jews, but who are not.
