ADL Blasts Christian Supremacist TV Special & Book Blaming Darwin For Hitler

New York, NY, August 22, 2006 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today blasted a television documentary produced by Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries that attempts to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust. ADL also denounced Coral Ridge Ministries for misleading Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute for the NIH, and wrongfully using him as part of its twisted documentary, "Darwin's Deadly Legacy."

After being contacted by the ADL about his name being used to promote Kennedy's project, Dr. Collins said he is "absolutely appalled by what Coral Ridge Ministries is doing. I had NO knowledge that Coral Ridge Ministries was planning a TV special on Darwin and Hitler, and I find the thesis of Dr. Kennedy's program utterly misguided and inflammatory," he told ADL.

ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said in a statement:"This is an outrageous and shoddy attempt by D. James Kennedy to trivialize the horrors of the Holocaust. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis.

"It must be remembered that D. James Kennedy is a leader among the distinct group of 'Christian Supremacists' who seek to "reclaim America for Christ" and turn the U.S. into a Christian nation guided by their strange notions of biblical law."

The documentary is scheduled to air this weekend along with the publication of an accompanying book "Evolution's Fatal Fruit: How Darwin's Tree of Life Brought Death to Millions."

A Coral Ridge Ministries press release promoting the documentary says the program "features 14 scholars, scientists, and authors who outline the grim consequences of Darwin's theory of evolution and show how his theory fueled Hitler's ovens."

Is your stance that time and chance possess the capacity to create more complex systems then millions of human creators?

I'm not challenging the 90% death rate, just your implication that the killng was done by the Spanish. Inasmuch as the Spanish NEVER went around killing people by the tens of thousands, and disease did, I would suggest disease killed Indian people in vast numbers. This would have happened even if Europeans and Africans had not made the trip from the Old World to the New. If it'd been the other way around, the Indians would have simply brought those diseases back to the Americas and people would have died in vast numbers anyway.

Guys like you are just burning to blame the Conquistidores for things they didn't do. By the time the Spanish began setting up missions in Alta California the doggone climate out there had changed ~ Cabrillo's was there in 1542. San Luis Rey (where a number of my early fur trade relatives are buried) was built in 1798.

Now not to be picky, but 1542 to 1798 is 256 years, and the folks setting up the mission system were hardly Conquistidores. For contrast, 256 years ago it was but 1750.

The earliest mission was not set up until 1770, and that's still 228 years earlier.

For a long time it was popular among leftwingnuts to condemn the California mission system for killing off the native people. Presumably the missions enslaved them, kept the girls from getting pregnant (a Catholic thing I'm sure, eh?), and stole their stuff.

One might well imagine the relief the Spanish felt when English and American archaeologists finally decided the Maya had not committed suicide 500 years earlier in anticipation of Spanish brutality ~ instead they'd simply starved to death and fought over the dregs as a long term Bermuda High began to churn for 300 years off the coast.

Abe Foxman is somewhat ignorant of history. Hitler was a believer in racist Darwinism. The survival of the strongest and the aristocratic rule of Nature. All the more ironic in view of Foxman's own introduction to the newly reissued Ralph Manheim translation of the Fuhrer's magnum opus, Mein Kampf.

Abe Foxman IS a liberal before he is a Jew and is defending the leading liberal orthodoxy from those awful conservatives. If evolution goes, so does much of the world view that follows it.

I rather resent the implication that all conservatives are like you.

The following is from Hitler's Secret Conversations

How convenient of him to have secret, unrecorded conversations with the tooth fairy.

This is a fine example of someone so obsessed with something he needs bring it up at every opportunity, even when it has nothing to do with what's being discussed.

Except, of course, that there is no proper documentation of any of this.

The source is Martin Bormann who clearly knew Hitler and was present at his dinner conversations.

But if you feel that's not proper enough "documentation" to convince that Hitler hated Christianity here you go: July 6, 1945 - "The Nazi Master Plan: The Persecution of the Christian Churches"

It's a religious -- not science-based -- view that all life naturally evolved from a single source which explains the anger when this view is challenged.

"totally wrong. if you believe you are the master race, there is no need for war. You let nature take its course and you will win.

any link to nazis is a bastardized interpretation of evolution."

Very interesting to see which freepers agree with the commie ADL.

Darwin was not an anti-Semite.

Yeah, it's pretty clear he wasn't. Certainly there's no indication.

Of course. The anger, or any reference to transcendant values, is irrational in Darwinist theory. It can't be fitted into either science or naturalist philosophy. But it is oh, so human.

I'm not aware of any point in history where a cadre of biologists engaged in genocide...

Consider the words of Viktor Frankl, psychologist who was imprisoned at Auschwitz:

"If we present man with a concept of man that is not true, we may well corrupt him. When we present him as automation of reflexes, as a mind machine, as a bundle of instincts, as a pawn of drives and reactions, as a mere product of instincts, heredity and environment, we feed the despair to which man is in any case already prone. I became acquainted with the last stages of corruption in my second concentration camp in Auschwitz. The gas chambers of Auschwitz were the ultimate consequence of the theory that man is nothing but the product of heredity and environment--or, as the Nazi liked to say, of “Blood and Soil.” I am absolutely convinced that the gas chambers of Auschwitz, Treblinka, and Maidanek were ultimately prepared not in some Ministry or other in Berlin, but rather at the desks and in the lecture halls of nihilistic scientists and philosophers"

Hitler was a great evolutionist/Darwinist. Survival of the fittest, and he was going to be the fittest.

Hitler was a great Antisemite. If someone should be blamed it should be Martin Luther.

To: From many - one.

But how did the Germanic people become the superior race in the first place? Hitler thought it was through natural selection. Hitler's support of selective breeding was to impact the future, not the past, and to accelerate the rate of evolution.

Whether breeding a donkey to a horse or whatever, the entire 20th century concept of "breeding" is to just assist evolution, which takes millions of years to do randomly what intelligence can do by design. The current manipulation of DNA to clone and to create "new species" and new organs for the handicapped is also based on the concept that we can make evolution more efficient.

Precisely those people who reject the concept that intelligent design existed the first time around are the ones who now insist that (their) intelligent design is necessar to cure MS and alzheimers and to feed the world and wipe out contagious disease.

Who's talking objective science? All of the people named were "social scientists" / philosophers.

Newton, Pasteur, Einstein and other "scientists" were not named.

Hilary and her ACORN and Michael Moore are both disciples of Alinsky.

Some Alinsky spinoffs fatten the stomach, some the head.

However, he did subscribe to the same theory of "bad blood" that we find in Mein Kampf and to the theory of eugenics. His son was a leader of the movement. developed by his cousin.
