NEW YORK - Pornographic movies now seem nearly as pervasive in America's hotel rooms as tiny shampoo bottles, and the lodging industry shows little concern as conservative activists rev up a protest campaign aimed at triggering a federal crackdown.
A coalition of 13 conservative groups including the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America took out full-page ads in some editions of USA Today earlier this month urging the Justice Department and FBI to investigate whether some of the pay-per-view movies widely available in hotels violate federal and state obscenity laws.
The coalition also is trying to draw attention to CleanHotels.com, a directory of hotels and motels nationwide that pledge to exclude adult offerings from their in-room entertainment service.

I'm sure if someone found a way to learn the answer the ACLU would be all over him/her.
And, this time, I'd be on their side.
Shalom.
Porn is something you have to order special and pay for. However...
FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SOMEBODY START A MOVEMENT TO REMOVE THE WEDDING CRASHERS FROM HOTEL ROOM TELEVISION!
*eyes welling up* Oh thank you! Thank you! I've never won anything in my life! I will treasure this award for today, always.
You mean rather than make a dictum banning the behavior for everyone you just dealt with the people who lacked common sense one at a time?
I'm sure that violates some management principle or other.
Shalom.
Brother, that time is now. The idea of paying taxes so the FBI can keep track of the hotel pay-per-view menu while terrorists are running loose is straight up nanny-state stupid.
People worried about this stuff should really take some time off. You know, a little vacation or something. Have a nice dinner somewhere new, check into a hotel, grab a beer, order some porn, rub one out, and just relax.
Do whatever helps you unwind, but just take it easy on the moral police work. We've got bigger problems in the world than people procreating on video.
You're OK, as infidels go. I think I will kill you last.
Does that make it any less destructive to those who watch it and to our society?
The liberals say it isn't destructive and endorse your very positon.
They do if it's a snuff film, or if they're watching porn while driving and they go over a cliff, but that's another topic for another day.
And chick flicks too - like the aforementioned "When Harry Met Sally." Those kind of movies always make you think eeeeeeevil thoughts when the scenes fade to black.
Only family friendly films with guts flying everywhere should be allowed - like "The Terminator."
Shalom.
"We've got bigger problems in the world than people procreating on video.
"
Pssst! Pssst! They're using birth control....keep it quiet, OK?
"No, I'm not Ron Jeremy, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night . . . ."
That is funniest line I've seen on this site all week.
It is true that libraries are not supposed to restrict print material based on age. But internet access in a publicaly funded library is restricted by federal law.
My holy war? gosh, I had no idea.
So then, would you agree with the statement: "No individual or group should be able to tell another individual or group what the can or cannot do." ?
I wonder what the population of the country would be if all children had to be conceived in full view of the public.
The ALA extends that policy to videos and the internet.
What kids? Don't you have to be 18 or older to rent a hotel room? If so, there's your restriction right there.
These are the PR stunts that make conservatives look ditsy.
No matter how valid a position, we loose because peole are free NOT to buy and free to even have it blocked from their rooms.
They might as well complain about the cost of penuts in the minibar.
I believe that the Wedding Crashers now has its own cable channel. It plays 24 hours a day, seven days a week on hotel cable. It must be stopped! Not since Beast Master have we seen such a viewing menace!
Yes and the chick flicks! They must be eliminated as well.
Is anyone with me on this thing?
