Generic Polls: Republicans Closing in On Democrats

No, Republicans are not in the lead; however two new polls show that the Democrats lost their 12-18 point lead for control of Congress. Now, the Democrats are "only" nine points ahead of the Republicans.

(Review all the recent polls at Polling Report.com).

AR: You are so pathetic. Why do you bother to get up in the morning? You must have absolutely no joy in life. Things are just not perfect enough for you. Why don't you just go jump off a bridge now. Life is not worth living.

What brought that on? Maybe you should change your name to "OldLiberalTroll".

Make some kind of comprehensible argument if you don't agree with me. Don't just flame. Kids do that, not old ladies.

Grid lock??? Our president would just sign the huge pork projects hoping to win Democrat friends, his attempted bribes won't work, and the Dims will have us retreat from the world, allow huge Terrorist victories and probably do a worse job with the southern border (if that is possible).

You may have a point. But, I still think it would be better to not have a rubber stamp legislative/executive. If the Dims win EITHER the House or Senate (not both), we may be in better shape fiscally. I really don't hold out any hope for getting the border under control unless/until a really big terror attack happens and it is proven that the parties responsible got into the country from Mexico.

You are just dripping with pessimism and somehow I think you enjoy it. This does nothing to remedy the situation.

Bush may not be perfect, but he's a heck of a lot better than either Gore or Kerry.

I'm grateful he's president. He understands the threat of Islamofascism. He's far more likely to protect us than any _____Democrat. You may feel joy at a RAT victory, but I don't.

I don't want ANY Democrat in charge of my security.

If we would have had a RAT president, there would have been no tax cuts and do you want more judges like the dimwit that gave that ruling last week?

I just don't understand how you can be so miserable and without any hope. I think you will also enjoy a terror attack so you can say "I told you so". You sound like Democrats that I believe will actually welcome another terrorist attack just so they can blame Bush.

Fall in gas prices and Bush's approval ratings are back over 40%.

That's more like it.

You actually have good points. Democrats in charge of security is VERY bad. I cannot disagree with that. They are a bunch of appeasers and "blame America first" idiots that would ultimately lead us down the road to internal destruction due to political correctness and wussing out on every possible fight that comes our way.

However, let me reiterate: I do NOT want Dims in charge. I just thought it would be good if they had ONE legislative body so they could block a little spending, and possibly force the Repubs to be a little more conservative. Dims wouldn't be in charge of Jack $h*t.

So, my optimal gov't setup would have the Repubs in charge of all but one branch. In that one branch, they would be sharing power with the Dims, not actually letting them be in charge of anything.

Thanks for not flaming me (so badly) again. I enjoy normal adult discussions like this. But, you really should read my posts more carefully. I kinda said all this already. It is not a doom and gloom post, it is a disappointment in how liberal my party has become post.

Love the Dems. They cold-call people. On land lines. At home. In the evenings. On the weekends.

Who do you think answers? That's right - retirees, persons receiving government asssistance, etc. along with people too DUMB to avoid answering the phone between 6-9 PM at night (also known as Telemarketing Hell) or too DUMB to register with the Do-Not-Call list.

So....a Dem pollster push-polls a likely Dem voter with questions like "How soon should we exit Iraq?" or this stupid oversimplistic right track-wrong track question and they get a bunch of fools spouting cliches straight from Bob Schieffer's evening newscast. Some of them probably think FDR will be on the ballot this fall.

Dem polls are about as useful as horoscopes.

The truth is that conservatives are incapable of getting anything through this senate. Between the RATS and RINOS, we're lucky we've gotten what we have.

I'd like to see it become more conservative, not more liberal.

We must fight these battles in the primaries. Here in Iowa, we got rid of a great big RINO in our state senate. This is the way we're to do it.

Agreed, once again...

Getting rid of RINOs is the big challenge. A lot of them are entrenched and are gonna be hard to dig out. And a lot of them (McCain is my favorite example) have their constituents snowed. I had a relative (step-uncle?) in AZ that was a die-hard conservative, and thought McCain was the bee's knees. They love him down there, don't ask me why. Anyway, if we CAN get rid of the RINOs, I would then have nothing to complain about. I would GLADLY vote straight Repub tickets if I knew I was voting for real conservatives.

If you think we're ever going to get things to perfection here on this earth, you're being delusional.

This will never happen. We have to work to make it the best we can. I will always vote a straight Republican ticket--at least until the Democrats become more conservative than the Republicans and I do not ever expect that to happen in my lifetime.

We fight our battles in the primaries. That's why there are there. Then after that, we're a team and the idea is to beat the opposing team. Then we wait for the next tryouts (more primaries).

I can't stand McCain. I've had to face this kind of thing before. I couldn't stand our candidate for senate against Harkin but I held my nose and voted for him. Any Republican is better than almost any Democrat.

I've been involved in the political scene long enough to realize the importance of our side having the majority in a legislature or Congress. The side with the majority gets to choose the committee chairs, etc. A committee chair has the power to push legislation or stop it. I want our side to have that power. Even Chaffee has an R after his name and counts toward our majority. I can't stand the guy, but that's reality.
