Tom Gallagher may be a new conservative (for 5-6 years now) but even when he was liberal he was no more liberal than Charlie Crist is now.
Crist is known to be pro-choice, pro-huge spending increases, which would only lead to tax increases.
In a general election match up against Davis or Smith he was ahead till he started airing commercials. On top of all his liberal flaws, the electorate doesn't seem to like him which was the original reason people were flocking to him instead of Gallagher. Now Gallagher is the more electable choice.
With 2 weeks to go to the primary we've got to wake up. We've got to make sure that an electable conservative, even a reformed conservative, wins the primary instead of a liberal, who's liberal on every issue and is now masquerading as a conservative. His posturing won't fly and will turn off voters.
I wish Jeb were able to run for a 3rd term which is the sense I'm getting from all other Republicans. But between Gallagher and Crist we've got to go with Gallagher and somehow get the word out.
Old Chain-gang Charlie has my vote. Crist fought to keep criminals behind bars long before it was cool - and he's led the fight against pedophiles. Every major law enforcement organization in Florida is backing him - and for good reason. He's got my vote.
Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who got that mental image (and the "What?!" reaction) when quickly scanning the thread titles...
I'm voting for Gallagher, Crist would be a big step down from Jeb.
Gordon Thanks!
Leni - Great going
Crist may have enforced laws against pedophiles but any Attorney General would have done so in the wake of those horrific killings. But on every other issue he's a liberal.
Liberals have long used "tough on crime" as a smokescreen to hide their blatant liberalism. I'm not even for being tough on non-violent crime which contrary to Crist's commercials he was also tough on. But I am against a pro-big spending candidate who would eventually raise taxes, possibly bringing in a state income tax. I'm against a pro-abortion candidate who acted like a snot when he found himself in the same room as Terri Schiavo's father and ran away.
Crist has opposed many of the conservative initiatives of Gov. Bush. Gallagher has by and large been supportive of all such initiatives for over 6 years. Also, unlike Gallagher he has no solution for the home owners insurance problem.
Btw "WHAT?!" is right but Gallagher's by far the better choice. The only somewhat conservative one.
Not a good ad for Crist. hahaha
I am voting for Gallagher.
His ads aren't misleading. In fact Crist's only response to the ads which state that Crist is pro-choice and pro-spending is that they're misleading. He's the one misleading everyone. His record on these issues is clear. By the way, the way he dealt with Schiavo's father, running away from him - that's what caused me to start examining him and what you find is not good, at least for conservatives.
Until he got married and had a kid Gallagher was almost as liberal as Crist is now. I wouldn't encourage voting for him without taking a serious look if there were a lifelong conservative running but there isn't and Gallagher has been the only one of the two to support any conservative initiatives in the last 6 years (he supported all of them). He's also by far the best equiped to handle the homeowner's insurance crisis.
Neither of them would mess with gun rights though. They do know who their supporters are. Taxes are easier to raise and Crist has a spending record that is trouble.
Please contact "davidosborne". He has a TOM GALLAGHER PING LIST. If you haven't already, please join davidosborne's ping list.
There are plenty of freepers here for Tom Gallagher. We just haven't all been properly introduced.
Charlie Crist isn't even a moderate and he's accepting big bucks from democrat fundraisers held for him.
The media is trying to portray Gallagher as far right which he isn't. CRIST IS FAR LEFT.
Gallagher is right where a conservative republican should be on the issues!
TOM GALLAGHER PING LIST contact "davidosborne". Get non-freepers on board too! (Hi, minutegal).
Comparison at: GALLAGHER V. CRIST (on the issues). Thread by "davidosborne". We can link your thread over there and vice versa. Tom Gallagher has more support here than Crist does. That's not a wild guess. It's obvious if you read down some of the threads.
It's easy to kill innocent people in Florida.
Pinellas County wreaks of the culture of death. That's what you get with Crist. He's from euthanasia's home turf. That's why Terri's dead - not because of a phony death wish her cheatin' husband made up after he got his hands on her rehab money and cut off her rehabilitation.
Charlie Crist Let Terri Schiavo die. (and I'm not religious right not that there's anything wrong with it but, I have a legal background). I objected to her torture/death based upon all the laws that were broken so that Terri would be killed.
Think about that the next time you are thirsty. She had no water for 13 days. No ice chip, no water on a swab, no nothing. Dehydration turns a person's organs into ROCKS. Thanks, Charlie Crist for letting Terri die. The Constitution just didn't work for her.
He violated his oath of office when he said it was constitional to kill Terri. It wasn't! Murder's murder.

Gallagher will win, just like he won the last debate a few weeks ago in Polk County.
How out of touch is Charlie? He said the following to a reporter at an event, "This is America. I can wear whatever I want. I believe in freedom." C. Crist
He sounds like he's in the sixth grade.

Crist is no conservative or he would have dome something about Terri Schiavo instead of sitting on his skinny butt not doing a thing.
Throughout his career Crist has been a fighter for innovative, positive change. As a state senator, Crist fought for and passed the STOP (Stop Turning Out Prisoners) legislation that required prisoners to serve at least 85 percent of their sentences.
He also co-sponsored legislation to implement the charter schools bill, which gives parents the freedom to pick the best schools for their children.
As commissioner of education, Crist supported early reading programs to better prepare children to read at grade level when they enter school.
As attorney general, Crist helped draft, and worked to pass, tougher price gouging and looting laws; supported stronger penalties for identity thieves; and spearheaded landmark legislation requiring prescription drugs to be tracked from the manufacturer to the pharmacy to ensure drug safety.
He also created an innovative program to aid victims of domestic violence, and was named the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence's 2005 Advocate of the Year.
He has vowed that as governor, he will promote business in Florida and appoint conservative, not activist, judges to the courts. Despite Gallagher's claims to the contrary, Crist is solidly pro-life and supports a constitutional amendment to define marriage< as being between a man and a woman.

Crist has also won an impressive list of endorsements... the National Rifle Association, whose past President Marion Hammer said "no one has been stronger" than Crist in support of Second Amendment, self-defense, and anti-crime issues.
