PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush are spending the weekend at Camp David. Look for the First Lady to be on the campaign trail a lot in the next few months. Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said that Mrs. Bush is a significant draw wherever she goes, and is a critical asset to Republican candidates across the country. According to the RNC, so far this campaign season, the First Lady has appeared at 24 political events and raised $10.7 million for the party and Republican candidates. Last week, she campaigned in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Next week's daily scheduled was not announced by White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. However, next week the President will visit his family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the first time in two years. GWB and the First Lady are scheduled to arrive Thursday at Walker's Point, where they will be spending the weekend with GWB's parents at their summer retreat. The first couple will be in town to attend a relative's wedding, said Tom Frechette, spokesman for the president's father. While at Walker's Point, the President typically goes fishing and golfing.

EXTENDED SCHEDULE:

_ Sept. 7, First Lady Laura Bush will visit Norfolk to attend a campaign rally for U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake.

_ Sept. 14, President Bush will welcome President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea to the White House.

_ Oct. 10, President Bush will welcome President Alan Garcia of Peru to the White House.

I keep wondering how Europeans would react if they could see pictures of our President with his troops. Since we're told that the Europeans hate Bush and America so much, I wish I could send them all the great pix we see here. And the picture you posted is a great example:

I guess your post #81 pretty much answers what I said in my post #83.

I don't agree withn a lot of his approaches but you can see he is for real compared the Phony Kerry-Gore-Clinton

Great pictures--THANKS! So many people are uncomfortable around sick/injured people, but the President sees the PERSON, not the tubes or equipment or injuries. It has to be very difficult to see and talk to injured soldiers who he, indirectly, sent into war.

Beautiful Dose, Wolfie. Thank you very much. We love seeing W with the troops. I don't think any President has had such an intimate ongoing relationship with the US military AND their families as W does. It's wonderful to know and see.

The love and honor he has for the troops is palpable .. and in turn, they're drawn like a magnet to him because he has earned their trust and respect.

From 2001 in Kosovo. Check out the badly disguised SS guy. W really looks the same as today there.

More recently

They're both have such special love for our wonderful troops:

Thanks to a few very patient Canteeners, I've gotten up to speed to post songs for the troops, so

I Believe

God Bless Texas
