PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush are spending the weekend at Camp David. Look for the First Lady to be on the campaign trail a lot in the next few months. Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said that Mrs. Bush is a significant draw wherever she goes, and is a critical asset to Republican candidates across the country. According to the RNC, so far this campaign season, the First Lady has appeared at 24 political events and raised $10.7 million for the party and Republican candidates. Last week, she campaigned in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
THE WEEK AHEAD: Next week's daily scheduled was not announced by White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. However, next week the President will visit his family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the first time in two years. GWB and the First Lady are scheduled to arrive Thursday at Walker's Point, where they will be spending the weekend with GWB's parents at their summer retreat. The first couple will be in town to attend a relative's wedding, said Tom Frechette, spokesman for the president's father. While at Walker's Point, the President typically goes fishing and golfing.
EXTENDED SCHEDULE:
_ Sept. 7, First Lady Laura Bush will visit Norfolk to attend a campaign rally for U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake. _ Sept. 14, President Bush will welcome President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea to the White House.
_ Oct. 10, President Bush will welcome President Alan Garcia of Peru to the White House.

Walker's Point is a magnificent piece of property. I think it's been in their family for several generations.

Yes there is...but on the other hand, we wouldn't still be a country if Clintoon had had a third term! I guess it balances out.

I just downloaded the song from a link someone provided. I've never heard it before. Very moving.
that's the kind of male voice I've been wishing for on AI.
Wha ...? You don't like Ace's masculine voice!? LOL

Yes there is...but on the other hand, we wouldn't still be a country if Clintoon had had a third term! I guess it balances out.I don't mind limiting presidents to two terms. If it was good enough for George Washington, it's good enough for all other presidents. My concerns center on the automatic lame duck aspect of 2nd terms, without a corresponding check on Congressional power. But again, this is a discussion for a different thread.

BTW, Jonny. The President and First Lady are going to Kennebunkport Thursday for the first time in two years. In addition to a little down time with the family, they are attending what the media has delicately called a "family member's" wedding. I have found no word as to who is getting married, but I don't think it's one of the twins.

Sorry I baled out but I had a headache (I think I have not drunk enough today).
Had something to drink, fell asleep and just woken up - feel better now.

Had something to drink, fell asleep and just woken up - feel better now.Be sure to stay hydrated, Snugs. Is it hot in your locality now? If so, it's especially important to drink plenty of fluids.
Over here there's been a summer cold making the rounds. I had it the past 10 days and am only just getting past it.

I know what you mean about the themes in a way I missed this this year during August because each of my days there were new photos to post what with the President "being seen to work whilst at the ranch this year".
In a way this also annoyed me that due to press pressure although anyone with one brain cell really knows that the President is always appraised of the situation and is never really off work but this year because of the Katrina hate last year was obliged to have photo ops at least 3 times a week during a very brief 10 day break at the ranch. Break all it was he basically spent the night at ranch instead of the White House and had the occasional day for relaxation.
How would the average American react if you told them out of their 10 day vacation they could only spend 2 or 3 days doing what they want. I know how a Brit would yet they still buy in the Blair is on holiday rubbish. Yes he may have flown to the Caribbean but his holiday will be much more work based than most Brit's everyday at work day is and as for their 2 week in the sun that is sacrosanct to them.
Rant off

No it is not that hot that was the problem I did not feel thirsty or hot.
I am not good at the best of time at drinking enough fluids except at work but when at home I do not drink enough.
Serves me right - naughty girl. Now of course after lying down with headache am awake and do not feel tired. So will do a little surfing and then have another drink and go to bed.
