All Things Considered, August 14, 2006 · In an effort to reduce the stabbings and slashings that stem from the country's "booze and blade" culture, Scotland is cracking down on the sale of swords, machetes, meat cleavers and other knifes. Knife violence accounts for almost half of the homicides in Scotland each year.

Sure ye laugh now, but what will yoe do when they come for the forks and pitchforks.
Bloody looneys, if there remains any vestige of the European male in Europe outside of Serbia it is past time for them to assert themselves.
All I see is a bunch of panty waists sissies that never got out from behind Big Momma governments skirts and whopped the neighborhood bully one.

Knife violence accounts for almost half of the homicides in Scotland each year. And the other half?

Spoons, or rather, SPOONS!

No more carrying a dirk in the sock? A dirk's a rather large thing to carry in a sock! You're thinking of the sgian dubh (lit: "black knife"), the stocking knife.

Spoons, or rather, SPOONS! Next they'll ban sporks -- and spork weasels!

I seriously wish lightsabers were real...I'd buy ten in a heartbeat.
Speaking of "knife control"...I wonder what knife control would mean for sword collectors.

I wish I could find the article on the net to document this but:
In the Boston area, a school child took a water pistol to school and squirted another kid. the victim went to his licker and returned with a 45 pistol and blew away the water pistol packing kid.
The schools districts response to this tragedy: THEY BANNED WATER PISTOLS AT SCHOOL.

Knee high socks - with garters. I'm very aware of Highland dress, modern and ancient. But a dirk is still a very large knife -- way too large and heavy for wearing in the hose. That is where the little sgian dubh is worn.
I have two sgians dubh; and was tempted to buy a dirk with frog at the Games a couple of weeks ago.

Well, ya can keep your wee sgian dubh, and I'll keep my Bagwell Bowie in my socks, and the .45 under mah kilt.
