Today at 8 pm Eastern, at the request of Iran, the entire unedited (and unhinged) version of Mike Wallace’s interview with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be broadcast on C-SPAN.
I saw it, and Tivo'd it, scary and threatening...
I don't support wallace's interview, but it does show glimpses of the madman of Iran!
I saw both the excerpts on CNN before the show last night and the CBS interview on 60 minutes.
The excerpts showed ahmadjihad using more veiled threats against Israel than CBS showed last night. I think CBS edited them out to make him appear more sane, and to cover the true message delivered with watching the interview in toto.
So I might check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
It will feature the hilarious excised footage of Mahmoud re-stocking the slurpee machine and trying to fix the Lotto ticket dispenser.

Mike Wallace Says Ahmadinejad “a Swell Guy”
In an interview with Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mike Wallace of CBS’s “Sixty Minutes” TV show came away quite impressed. "He's a swell guy,” Wallace said. “He really is. He's obviously smart as hell. He’s a college professor, for Christ’s sake. Nobody’s smarter than them."
"Granted he wants to wipe Israel off the map, but I’m a Jew and he didn’t kill me when he had the chance,” Wallace continued. “You’ve got to give him credit for that. I found him an interesting man. He has some intriguing ideas.”
One of the “intriguing ideas cited by Wallace was Ahmadinejad’s suggestion that the Jews of Israel could simply be relocated. “He suggested that a new homeland for the Jews could be established in Alaska, which I find fascinating," Wallace said. “He pointed out that if European Jews had been sent to Madagascar like the Nazis requested, they wouldn’t have had to kill them. You’ve got to admit he has a point there. And who are we to say that the stonings and hangings haven’t been a useful weapon in the battle against immorality?”

Well, so much for Wallace's value system. That Ahmadinejad did not kill him on the spot can only mean that "he is a swell guy!" Give me a break! To Wallace's "smart" - "Smart does not equal "good" or "right". Smart can be, as with Ahmadinejad, "darkly cunning." But then I forget, the media moguls have no value system after all.
WOW! I have it playing now the extended interview. Wallace did get rattled! That must have been the roughest interview he has ever done.
Dinajad even threatened to stop the interview. He really had to placate him and his handlers.
And yes, one could get wrapped up into this nutjobs twisted logic
Fascinating. I think Wallace did a good job. Adenadude came off truly nuts!! Much better than the 60 minutes piece!!
The question should be why did 60 minutes edit out the nut so that he looked/seemed better???

I am watching this now. I think that Wallace was in a tough position. Amonamadjihad will not answer direct questions. Did Iranian troops provide the Iraqi resistance with IEDs? Answer~ We love everyone and want peace. How do you deal with this crazy answer. Wallace was like, "You apparently love everyone but the Zionists."
Oh yes. The nut's answers were just circles of more questions!!

I just watched it. The show and the unedited version. Wallace was not shaking.
Not surprisingly the unedited version was more revealing.
A lot of people commenting on CSPAN call ins who are upset about Wallace "not being respectful".
I came away not feeling one iota better about Ahmadinejad.
Back in 1980, when Castro was busy helping African revolutionistas, I suggested to an Israeli friend that Cuba and Israel swap lands. Castro could have much easier access to Africa and the Jews could do really well in the hotel business in Havana. Seemed perfect to me, but friend turned white and almost fainted on the spot.
As for Wallace, he did a better interview of Ahneedajihad than Rather did of Saddam. Far less worshipful.
