GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen kidnapped two foreign journalists working for the Fox News television channel in Gaza on Monday, a witness said.
The witness, a Palestinian who worked with the two journalists, said one of them, a producer, was an American, and the other, whose nationality he did not know, was a cameraman.
The Fox News bureau in Jerusalem said it was checking the report.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the abduction.
The witness said two vehicles blocked the journalist's transmission truck in the center of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to the bodyguard's head, forcing him to the ground.
The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.
Similar incidents in the past in Gaza have ended with the release, usually within hours, of kidnapped foreign journalists or aid workers.
Many of the abductions were carried out by Palestinians pressing a grievance against the Palestinian government or its security forces
Our interests and concerns are no more "selfish" for this event than those soldiers kidnapped and mutilated in Iraq, the construction worker kidnapped, the science whatever who was kidnapped or even Danny Pearl. We care about them all.
To suggest our "selfish desires" is motivating our "need to know" is bull.
...when many Freepers have given you the answer...
Still you keep asking.
jackv, this is not about you...
..it's about them..our missing ones...
We have answered your question.
Please have the grace to accept it!
So what do you think would be News Corp's decision if the crew had left specific instructions to them?
"If we're ever kidnapped, please publicise it to the greatest extent possible, no matter what the kidnappers may say. Publically demand of our captors our immediate release and publicly challenge the administration to save us, by any means necessary."
No.
When the press gets involved the pressure can become to great for the kidnappers and they might make a hasty decesion to kill the people they are holding.
I agree with you but don't understand the difference when it came to the kidnapping of our soldiers, the Christian Science person, the construction worker, Nick Berg, Danny Pearl, etc., etc.
Those stories were "News Alert" items every few minutes and front page news for days. My concern is the same for Steve Centanni as it was for those stories. It really is not morbid curiosity as I'm being called by some. Seems a bit of a double standard to me. I hope Fox will not turn around and highlight other kidnappings in the future with this newfound silence on the matter of kidnappings. Perhaps they have a new outlook since it is one of their own which I can understand. We shall see.
ABC says still no word on their whereabouts.
Continued prayers!!
Prayers up, indeed. I watched FOXnews for over an hour in the dentist's chair today and I didn't hear Jane Skinner or Bill Hemmer mention the kidnapping at all.
Nope. No one is talking which I still don't get but we will keep praying!!!
praying for the safe return of these men
Moody (Fox's VP) has e-mailed everyone on the Network not to mention this. I heard it at 5:30 AM and then not again on any other1/2 hourly radio broadcast. A tactical decision. See Drudge for the E-mail.

Family waits for word on Fox reporter
SAN JOSE, Calif. The brother of a Fox News reporter who's been kidnapped in the Gaza Strip says the family is "holding up O-K" as it waits for news.
Ken Centanni is the brother of reporter Steve Centanni, who was kidnapped along with a cameraman from New Zealand yesterday near the headquarters of the Palestinian security services.
At the family's home in San Jose, California, he said, "We're confident things will resolve themselves." But he says family members "haven't heard from the kidnappers yet."
Ken Centanni says the family was always worried that something like this might happen, but that his brother didn't seem to have much fear. He says the reporter "loves the human interest side" of his job, and that he may have "compassion for the kidnappers."
No one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, and police say no demands have been made. Major militant groups are denying any connection to the case. U-S officials say they're in touch with Palestinian officials and with the Israelis to see if they can help secure the release of the journalists.
Why isn't any news of this being carried?
Even Fox doesn't have it on their website.
This is so odd.
I must disagree with him.
This is news, and they are not doing their jobs because it is a colleague.
FYI: These new numbers were just posted on drudge: Two things of interest, at least to me; Brit's show is now number 2 in the lineup; and this is the first time I have seen Glenn Beck listed at all. Not a single show on msnbc gets over 500,000. Too funny.

. . .well, think a terrorist is a terrorist. . .by any MO. . .and they all cause trouble; and none hold to 'Reason'; can only hope these terrorist can respond to it; or so be enticed.
Well, if this group get little publicity; there will be less 'face to lose'; by agreeing to let these men go. As Fox News employees; they are already high-profile and perhaps more risk attached to outcome.
That said; it has been mentioned on news outlets; but minimal; and no discussion. O'Reilly brusquely dismissed a mention last night, on his show.
"Probably DNC/Moveon operatives in Gaza, tired of the "fair and balanced" ...."
Yeah the LONG arm of Soro's.. barf.

Brit Hume hasn't been on that often IMO. All replacement interviewers and Chris Wallace sucks, (so does his senile father).
Enjoyed Glen Beck Show... different and not alot of talking heads yelling back and forth at each other. Gets tiring. Prays for Steve C. too!!
