GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen kidnapped two foreign journalists working for the Fox News television channel in Gaza on Monday, a witness said.
The witness, a Palestinian who worked with the two journalists, said one of them, a producer, was an American, and the other, whose nationality he did not know, was a cameraman.
The Fox News bureau in Jerusalem said it was checking the report.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the abduction.
The witness said two vehicles blocked the journalist's transmission truck in the center of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to the bodyguard's head, forcing him to the ground.
The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.
Similar incidents in the past in Gaza have ended with the release, usually within hours, of kidnapped foreign journalists or aid workers.
Many of the abductions were carried out by Palestinians pressing a grievance against the Palestinian government or its security forces
Best guess, the names were not known at first and instead of adding the names, they added "see post #" to the title.
I hate this. He has always been one of my favorites. When I heard the first report I went down a mental list "Who was in Gaza"
I stinks. It would stink no matter who it was.
Pray is exactly what I did when I heard it announced on my car radio this afternoon. I was surprised that foxnews didn't cover it during the early evening but then read on Drudge the memo fox circulated to their staff.
I would just go with it. I doubt if they are calling the shots. My concern is increasing though, the longer they are held.
Yeah, the longer they are held I'm starting to think this is more serious each minute. I hope we will hear more about this tomorrow.
It doesn't matter to me but I'm just wondering if we are keeping this below the radar too. I'm ok, with what FOX is doing. I have some comments but not now.
I guess I was wrong -- there are more than two threads about this kidnapping.
I still must compare with Nick Berg, Jill Carroll, etc.
There were sooooo many threads.
Only difference is these are Fox News Channel employees.
Anyone smell a double-standard?
Thank you so much for such a profound contribution to this discussion/s
Prayers being said for those kidnapped .
That's what I get for getting away from the news for the day. Didn't hear this until I got online tonight. Our cable/internet was down all day long.
Prayers for Steve Centanni and his cameraman. I hope Fox News will keep their viewers updated because some of us feel like we know them so well. They come into our livingrooms every day.

I've had roofers here all day and did not know the news either..When I was online here I did not see the thread..
What possible good can they expect to come to them with these kidnappings?.. I despaiir of understanding the mindset of these terrorists..
May God watch over and protect Steve and his cameraman.
I imagine Fox is staying under the radar..perhaps there have been demands and they don't want to endanger the lives of the men. Just a guess.
there is no mind set for terrorists like these. They are reactionaries. Just causing trouble.
They surely don't help their cause. Hopefully there will be good news tomorrow.
This blog has information on the kidnappings. It's being updated as news develops, so some of the good information is a few posts down. It talks a little about how FNC is talking to its contacts in the Palestinian Authority in an attempt to get these two back alive: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/
Thank You!
Is that the latest that FNC is trying to gain some sort of release??? Just home from work and this is the first I've heard.
God look over Steve and his cameraman. May they both be returned quickly and safely.
Thanks.
Yes, that seems to be the latest, other than a little update on how tight-lipped FOX is being.
From a post earlier in the evening on the blog:
"Fox News has provided Olaf Wiig's wife Anita McNaught with a driver and car to drive from Syria to Israel, the NZ Herald reports. "Fox, she said, had built up contacts throughout Gaza and would be working its contacts in the Palestinian Authority and the US Consul to ensure his release..."
didn't mean to offend...

Fox News reporter denies duping London mosque

LONDON, Aug 14 (Reuters) - A Fox News reporter, responding to accusations he misrepresented himself as a Vatican offical to an east London mosque used by suspects in a foiled plot to blow up planes, said on Monday he had identified himself clearly.
Mohammed Shoyaib, imam of the Masjid-e-Umer mosque in Walthamstow, told Britain's Guardian newspaper that Father Jonathan Morris, a Fox News religion reporter, introduced himself as a Rome-based priest working for peace in the world.
"Only later he said he was from 'a sister network of Sky News' but never mentioned Fox," the imam said, according to the newspaper. "We would never have spoken to him if we had known," Shoyaib said. "We've been tricked."
Wiig's father, the Reverend Roger Wiig, "said his 36-year-old son had been in Gaza for about a month, after spending time in Jerusalem and Haifa. He was experienced at reporting from the Middle East, and had previously worked in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Wiig last heard from his son at the end of last week. He said he was enjoying his work, "He was basically shocked by what he was seeing, by the damage that Israel has done," Wiig said...
I was upset.I see where you are coming from now..but it seemed rather flip considering the danger he is in.
