GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen kidnapped two foreign journalists working for the Fox News television channel in Gaza on Monday, a witness said.
The witness, a Palestinian who worked with the two journalists, said one of them, a producer, was an American, and the other, whose nationality he did not know, was a cameraman.
The Fox News bureau in Jerusalem said it was checking the report.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the abduction.
The witness said two vehicles blocked the journalist's transmission truck in the center of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to the bodyguard's head, forcing him to the ground.
The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.
Similar incidents in the past in Gaza have ended with the release, usually within hours, of kidnapped foreign journalists or aid workers.
Many of the abductions were carried out by Palestinians pressing a grievance against the Palestinian government or its security forces
I'm really worried about Steve and his cameraman. I hope and pray they are both ok and that they will both be released very, very soon.
The reason I thought it was odd and insensitive for Fox to air a comedy routine tonight is because I do like and trust and respect their reporting. I am troubled at their decision this evening.
Is Brit Hume taped live?
I hadn't thought that perhaps it is not live. I don't know.
Thanks for the info, I didn't scroll down far enough. That's awful, prayers for Steve Centanni and his cameraman and their families! I've always liked his reporting.
HUH. There is hope for some of them:')
Dems are saying: "It's all Bush's fault!" LOL Ibetcha!
Has any more been reported? FIrst I heard about it, they said they were negotiating for their release. Any more news.
Good grief! To report the truth would be a start. A serious abduction has occurred and you all want to pretend like all is normal?? Ok! hahaha! No problems...all is hunky dory!!
(read my tagline!)
Jack, I will count my chips when all the "dealings" done!
Be patient! :-)
I will pray for them both and for the comfort of their families.
I'm surrounded by these kind of people here at work. I couldn't even stand in their presence today at lunch. They are very sick individuals.

> 7:03pm: FNC's Jennifer Griffin on the Fox Report: "No word yet on our colleagues that were kidnapped in Gaza earlier today but we are working with all of our sources in Gaza tonight to try to secure their safe release..."> 7:01pm: Fox News has provided Olaf Wiig's wife Anita McNaught with a driver and car to drive from Syria to Israel, the NZ Herald reports. "Fox, she said, had built up contacts throughout Gaza and would be working its contacts in the Palestinian Authority and the US Consul to ensure his release..."
Thanks lainie...
O'Reilly's muslim guest just expressed his desire for the FNC crew to be released. O'Reilly responded, rather curtly, that there would not be much more reporting on this while they were working to get them released.
Ive been reading this website for several years. It is where I get most of my news. I cancelled the local newspaper years ago. Ive never posted an article and have only responded occasionally to something someone else posted.
Ive read all of the posts on this thread and am amazed at the people who are upset because Fox News isnt saying anything about this situation.
What would be the purpose of Fox News Channel to give the captors the publicity they so obviously seek? They do things like this so they WILL make the news. If no one knows about it, it really doesnt do them much good to keep doing it? Does it?
Ive had the TV on since I got home from work at 4:00 today and still havent heard anything. But, you know what? That just means the captors are not getting the publicity they were seeking.
I think Fox is playing this out perfectly. I hope they dont mention it. It doesnt mean that they dont care. They are, no doubt, working behind the scenes on this thing. We dont need to know every little detail. Its enough to know that one of our own is in danger. But, to publicize it would only give the bad guys what they want.
Keep the faith.
Why didn't they grab Sheppard Smith while he was applying his mascara?
Heard that -- it was kind of creepy. BO'R said, "Were not talking about that right now..."
(I love that his initials are BOR.)
It's not a conspiracy, and it's not that everyone here is stupid for thinking about it. It's very uncharacteristic of FNC not to hype and flog a story endlessly all day and night, that's all. Plus what else are we going to talk about.
I suppose they think to report on it would be exploitative. I don't think so but it goes with the politcal correctness of today I guess. The Jennifer Griffin comments are at least acknowledgment.
