Just saw on Fox that the IDF is monitoring unusual activity on Syrian border in the Golan Heights...tanks there, they are removing land mines at the border...not up on their website yet
Perhaps that's the plan. Of course the Israelis could be in Damascus by then.
Maybe Syria thinks the IDF is overextened in Lebanon?
Going to try to outflank or pincer move. (I'm not sure what the term is.)

They are just forcing the Israeli's to take measure of this possibility. This makes Israel's job tougher as they now have to plan for this contingency.
I am tired of this s***. Form a keep away zone on Lebanon's border of say 30 miles. Fill it with nuclear waste from all over the world, so toxic noone can go there. Set off a few 100 megaton hydrogen bombs in sparse areas to demonstrate a pathway to their maker. Should give them fuel for thought at least. Tired of messing with the low life freaks.
Because if Syria attacks Israel, then the entire Middle East is going to be at war. Open war is often necessary, and it is certainly coming, but that doesn't mean that I have to clap my hands with glee when it occurs.
If Syria attacks Israel, then Iran will attack Iraq, and us, to try to keep us from joining the battle. Jordan will have to make a decision, and I doubt it will be to our liking. I also doubt that Egypt will be able to stay out of it.
Just in case you aren't exaggerating...
One bomb like that would pollute the entire Middle East and make Israel unlivable.
Also would Turkey get involved?? Yes, this could be a prelude to rid western influence in the area.
I fear in that case Iraq would join forces with Syrian and Jordan. They have no love for Israel, and our guys would be in deep. Of course it wouldn't be the first "March of the 10,000" in that part of the world. :)

Iraq itself was at war with half the middle east, including Iran. I doubt they would join sides with them right now.

Years ago I would have said no. But the muslim world has been radicalized lately and will choose one of their own over us.
I think we should make the first move. It will be blamed on us regardless. Nuclear bunker busters for Iran's nuclear program and much more if we must. I still believe that a demonstration of what a 100 megaton device can do will do wonders for those that want to live..It can be demonstarted in remote area still visable to those that need to see it. Be sure to stare at the white light for as long as you can.

Or, if Syria believes strongly that Israel will not invade Syria, then they can clear the mines as a provocation, as subterfuge, or to enable insurgents to try to sneak through or some other reason of brinksmanship or tactics.
It could be that Syria wants Israel to invade, either as a trap or as a form of coup. What if the second tier of Syrian command wants to see the Syrian regime tumble or pulled out of Iran's grasp, and the only way to effect that is to get IDF backup?
It is one thing to mass your tanks on the border. It is quite another to remove your anti-tank defenses at the same time. The only reason to do that is if you are going to attack.
This isn't posturing. You don't remove your defenses to make a point.
Mark my words, this is a big Rope-a-Dope by the Bush/Rice/Bolton team.
We have now done what the international community demands: brokered a cease fire. However, we know very well that it will never last because neither the Hezbos, Syria nor Iran will ultimately honor it.
Just look closely at the wording the Lebanese government used when they agreed to it. Their statement is chock full of phrases which I'll paraphrase: "If the U.N. is going to enforce this cease fire; if this cease fire has Kofi Anan's support," etc. They're looking for the status quo that they have enjoyed with the U.N. presence there for years, which has allowed Syrian and Iranian arms, troops and intelligence services full access to Lebanon.
No, this was a very shrewd move by Bush, Rice and Bolton. They know the job needs to be finished. The cease fire will soon be violated (if it even has a chance to go into affect), and then Israel will have the green light to take off the gloves with a renewed vengeance -- and U.N. support. --Brilliant!
