Has any one made a map, or done any tracking, of cities/towns the cell phones are being purchased? or of where the suspects are being picked up?

Hey, we are in a war. Whatever can be used for a weapon should not be allowed to be purchased without a background check, especially when we know what their motive is. If a Middle Easterner came into my store and tries to purchase a large quantity of cell phones, I would question that. There needs to be an awareness education of the American public. That is becoming quite apparent.
Why such brashness, RFC? Sheesh.
For very little in cost, time and knowledge one can build a short range GPS jammer that will block the GPS signal from getting to the phone.
What you want will only track honest people who, as a rule, don't blow things up.

the dark swarthy type have been traveling through many states lately to get thousands of pre-paid cell phones. not in the local area. not egg timers or garage door openers or building their own detonators inside of pens. for $20, in the USA, they can buy the rope from us that'll be used to hang us. BUT, we can kick that stool out from under them by disabling ALL pre-paid cell phones, then re-enabling those that show traceability. cost to us? some inconvenience to the people who own them for legitimately.

Of course, the Hizbollah, Hamas and Al Qaeda apologist Democrats would have a cow. It's time we do racial profiling on Middle Easterners who do strange things like make purchases of odd items in large quantities.

not asking for registration of every item that can be used as a weapon...that would include pens and lollypops. i wanna disable pre-paid cell phones that have been demonstrated to be the detonator of choice in Iraq for the past X years...tried and true.
a pen can't be used from california to detonate a dirty bomb in NY...a pre-paid cell phone can.

Sparta, WI. Sent there by Viroqua Walmart for more electric hair dryers. Stated they needed a total of 15. Walmart
Two men of ME appearance, one in their 40s, one a teenager.
Stated that they had to get a certain number of phones and hairdryers before "returning to Michigan."

I gave up 4 family cell phones after analyzing usage and cost. Since the usage never came close to using the 'free minutes' it made no sense to pay for the monthly charge plus the burdensome taxes. Serves us well. Besides increasing my ammo budget
Consider this very common scenario: a cross country move involving several vehicles when being plugged in becomes very welcome as a means of co-ordinateing travel and the unforeseen traffic jams, mechanical parables, pit stops, etc.
In the above scenario one is between telephony providers and billing addresses. Coverage isn't always nationwide. Your mileage may vary.
As for the 'people who can't afford regular cell phone service' I'll leave you two to ponder whether the college student, young folk just starting out, lonely elderly and others are deserving of low-cost options to the problem.
Deal with the problem of potential terrs at the points of entry, start profiling the SOBS and illegals and provide swift and sure interdiction and punishment before getting your panties wedged in your fundamental aperture.
Here is an easy solution:
The cell phone manufacturers know who their distributors are. They should put out an immediate bulletin telling all sales outlets that Middle Easterners are trying to purchase these for use as potential weapon detonators. All customers must be identified and documented and any Middle Easterners who make such purchases are to be reported immediately to the FBI or Homeland Security.
The thing is, that I'm afraid the horse is already out of the barn. It's a good idea for the future but they already have them.
