A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.
Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.
The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.
Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.
Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.

British police have thwarted a major terrorist plot to blow up aircraft flying between Britain and the United States, Scotland Yard said.
Police said the plot involved hiding explosive devices in hand baggage.
The plan was uncovered in a joint operation by the Yard's anti-terrorist branch and security service that lasted several months, the Metropolitan Police said, adding that many arrests had been made.
British Home Secretary John Reid said on Wednesday that Britain faces "the most sustained period of severe threat since the end of World War II."

That's been going on here in U.S. already.
Had a bunch of people outraged just about 6 months ago when a nursing mother with bottle of her own breast milk was made to take a swig of it before being allowed to board.

I sure wish FOX would break in with news from the U.S. about what is happening here right now! What are our airlines doing? Has Homeland Security increased OUT threat level? Will flights out of the U.S. to UK, or elsewhere be effected? Have they increased security at OUR airports by now? So many question, and nothing being reported on Fox. Lord, do I have to go to CNN? Talk about a bad day, getting worse.

In one New Year's Eve transaction at a Target store in Hemet, Calif., 150 disposable tracfones were purchased. Suspicious store employees notified police, who called in the FBI, law enforcement sources said.
In an earlier incident, at a Wal-mart store in Midland, Texas, on December 18, six individuals attempted to buy about 60 of the phones until store clerks became suspicious and notified the police. A Wal-mart spokesperson confirmed the incident.

I think everything about such sentiments coming from Americans is beyond horrific. The thing we have to keep in mind is this is the type of voter who supports Lamont. On the victory podium with him were Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Maxine Waters, three virulent far left race baiters.
